I am an ardent ebay/ buyer Pat because I have only one crystal shop within a 2 hour drive and their stones are rather expensive.(I live in France) So far on ebay I have only met with the most genuine of sellers, and I have been fortunate enough to be able to communicate enough with the photos to find what I am looking for. Now admittedly it can't work for everyone but I have been very lucky in my finds and do resell some of the stones I have bought. What has been so very good is that it seems that most of the selling folk seem to love their stones and are not just in it for the money. I do envy those people that can visit a mine or rockshop and handle the stones, but I can only do that when I visit the UK. Roughs, rocks, polished, faceted, cabochons, beads etc - they are all wonderful. When I get the chance to visit the local crystal shop in St Ives UK then the owner just smiles and allows me as long as I need to walk the shop holding 'this' stone and 'that' stone, even to going outside into the light to 'see' the hidden depths. Visit a shop if you can - handle the stones with respect and if you are drawn to a crystal - then it's for you :-)) Enjoy searching ebay/ too but always set your limit first and don't get carried away. And Jean - I too have burnt the midnight oil waiting for the last minute bid. They always seem to go out at 2am ish my time :-((( crystallightwaves Karen
Guest guest
I think that the best way to buy stones/crystals is in person, but like others have said, it is not always possible. I have met several wonderful people through the online auctions and have had interesting things happen. Once, I made a rose quartz and garnet necklace with a sterling butterfly centerpiece that I listed on . When I packaged the necklace, I put a rose quartz tumbled stone in as a gift. The girl later wrote me the sweetest letter. The day she received the package, her lover/fiance of 10 years died from an unexpected heart attack. She said she wore the choker to his funeral and carried the stone in her pocket and that it gave her much needed peace. We exchanged many e-mails as she went through the grieving process. It was amazing to me how things fell into place. The butterfly is a symbol of transformation/change and the rose quartz is helpful for self-love/heart healing. I am convinced that you will find the stones that are right for you when you need them...don't worry too much about how, just allow them to come to you and use them for the greater good of all. Guest guest
Hi Karen, Do you know the name and in what street in St Ives the shop is in? I might be able to get there some time so I'll definitely stop in.
