Guest guest
Hi Peggy, I think my first stone was a dyed purple agate that my junior high school boyfriend bought for me at a gem and mineral show in Jackson, Mississippi quite a few decades ago. I did not really become very much interested until my husband and I went on a vacation to the western United States in 1995. We started stopping by the side of the road to pick up stones and visiting rock shops. I was fascinated with fire agate, rhodocrosite and geodes. My husband has been working with lapidary equipment since he was in high school and had many boxes of rocks, but I never looked at them until after that trip. Then we both got really excited about cutting, polishing and collecting stones. We acquired a lot of equipment. I taught myselft to make jewelry and the next year we opened our store. It was in the beginning an old-fashioned rock shop/lapidary. My customers kept asking for stones that did stuff. At first, I thought they were a little off, but then began doing some research and then things really got wild. A customer traded my Reiki attunements for rocks. After that, what can I say. My kids think their parents have been abducted by aliens or something, but really enjoy how much more peaceful our household is. My current fascination is Russian quartz crystals. They are incredible, milky white and covered with a soft sparkly druse. They remind me of some sort of fantasy castles. Ramona
Guest guest
Don't worry please I won't be keeping up this pace of posting for long and I don't expect you to absorb everything all that fast I'm a Gemini with Sag rising and if I actually paced myself and held back while I'm in the flow after I wrote something so I only sent the list one or two posts a week it would drive me crazy I want to get what I finish posted so it is available for you as needed Do Take Your time with the stuff and and please ask questions and answer questions discuss things express yourselves please tell me what you are particularly interested in hearing about too If you have another opinion or disagree with something I post let us all know. Interaction will broaden the value of the list .I don't want this to just be me lecturing Ugh! The strangest thing about an internet workshop is that I can't see people expressions so there is not the immediate feed back of an offline workshop which I normally use in teaching to know when to speed up, slow down expand or shorten things if its boring or exciting or what. I am really going to need to revise the post about choosing crystals I sent off yesterday I sent it off too soon because I wanted to send you something that was actually about crystals in case anyone was getting tired of all the preliminary stuff which I know many of you know already. but then I realized I want to say more about the way we really choose crystals or the way they choose us rather than laying out just a conventional assortment so addenda will be coming Here is My request for those of you who do have crystals and stones already Could you share what were your first stones really were and how they came to you and how you use them ? One of the things I personally use are activatable functions that are acquired by attunement like Reiki is for shakti that do things like clear or program crystals etc. Actually some of you may pick up or have these functions anyway Sollaraven -- Heretic Sanctuary, workshops, Reiki manuals http://people.we.mediaone.net/skygreen/index.html Huna, Angels, Crystals, fairies, the aura, spirituality http://www.geocities.com/solarraven/index.html Sparrows Fairyland, art http://www.geocities.com/pjentoft/index.html Spirited emotion: http://members.tripod.com/~sunsparrow/index.html

My first stones were mostly rose and smoky quartzes. This was when I was a kid...my grandmother owns a ranch in Colorado, and one of my family's activities when visiting there would be to go out and find crystals and arrowheads. Between us all there would be quite an impressive collection! I went through a big rockhunting phase as a kid, in fact, although mostly what I found were things like lava rocks, mica, stuff like that. We're actually going out to the ranch in a couple of weeks. It's beautiful there, but it'll be bittersweet for me for a couple of reasons. Grandmother isn't there anymore; she can't live by herself now, and is in a " retirement community. " I will go this time knowing that my favorite piece of the land is destined to be sold in a few years--so that the family can survive (times have been hard for my parents) while still keeping my father's favorite part. I will also be inheriting, AFAIK, all of my grandmother's mineral/crystal collection and a share of her jewelry--to be distributed this summer, although she's still alive. It feels very odd to me. How I use stones--I'm just coming back to them, actually, after a while " off. " (Being " witchy " rather than " new agey, " as I mentioned...as if stones are something totally new! Wow, THESE have never been here before! LOL.) My former use was totally intuitive--I would grab whichever one seemed right for whatever I was doing, and use it in whatever way felt right. Usually it involved wearing or holding it as a sort of extra battery, although I have also used a piece of peacock ore that had a pointy end to " cut " through something. So I'm starting to experiment again, and hoping, by being here, to introduce a little method into my madness! ^_~ Love, Estara Korai
Guest guest
Thanks for sharing, Ramona. I've never seen a Russian quartz; do you have a digicam, & if so, could you send a picture? Could you also tell us a bit more about your experience with the lapidary equipment? One of my fondest crystalline memories is of a tiny herkimer that a friend game two years ago. It was a herkimer with a fully formed, black phantom inside! This crystal in its symbolic meaning is directly attuned for past-life work and blockage-releasing. It is extremely powerful and I found it to be of an intensely high vibration. The very first time I fully used it, I was able to begin opening up past life memory. At the time it helped me the way I needed, and was then passed on to a friend whom it helped tremendously as well. For everyone ~ share some of your experiences and info about the unique little chunks of Gaia that have found you =) - Ramona Adams Friday, July 20, 2001 11:54 AM Re: assorted notes Hi Peggy,I think my first stone was a dyed purple agate that my junior high schoolboyfriend bought for me at a gem and mineral show in Jackson, Mississippiquite a few decades ago. Guest guest
Hey Ramona and all! The sparkly quartz crystals sound wonderful! I have never seen one and now from your description, I want ten!! They sound magnificent! The stone I could not live without at this very moment is an emerald. I feel very drawn to emeralds right now and have for weeks although I actually am in the midst of purchasing my first. Prior to that I fell in love with a citrine cluster that was so amazing and healing. I gave it away to someone who I knew needed it more - but it was really hard to part with. I have often been moved to pick up random rocks and have a collection from places I have been or places that have been very special to me - My latest acquisition is this big heavy shapeless rock from the cemetery. It isn't a cemetery that I have family in - but it is one with deep history - I love the place. It is close to my house and since childhood has been my special place - to find buckeyes in the fall and quiet beauty during all seasons. My rock is just so solid with such a presence. It felt excellent in my hand. Not warming or calming or even healing - grounding, I guess. Peggy, thank you again for doing this for us. It is so much easier to learn this way and your gentle personality comes so clearly through the instructions/information you send. Sherry .
