Guest guest
Interestingly, my Taiji school practices these same exercises every single time before doing a round of a Long Form. For us, it's about using the whole body, harnessing the whole thing and not letting one part be cut off from the action and balance of the whole lower body. The entire body becomes a balanced instrument. Since Doc LaTourrette mentioned these, I have added them to my daily routine. I have found what he has promised about them to be exactly true. They facilitate a better use of the Copper Mirror - for lucidity. They improve the Astral vision. To this I would also add the Shoulder Rolls for reducing Stress. 1. Roll the shoulders, shrugging them in a backwards circle. 2. Shrug them back, this time extending them in a high shrug, at the height of their backwards arc. 3. Then let them fall. Let the shoulders completely relax, releasing your tension. The shoulders themselves can hold an immense amount of tension. They can be seen to cause a lot of mischief, especially in Western Society. The shoulder muscles and the scapular stabilizers are even designed to defy gravity. The scapular bone is held up by them. It's hard for us to let go. Yet that is just one of the reasons why I see this region as one of the 3 key areas of body relaxation.
