Guest guest
I am almost through my first Tri-mester in Oriental Medicine, and I have been thinking about the Ren Mai, or the Central Meridian.I agree with Donna Eden that this Vessel flows upward, which goes against almost everything I have been taught.Based on my experience, and my studies, I would like to make an addition to this controversial subject:The Ren Mai, which translates to the "Conception Vessel" is a Strange Flow that goes both ways! The difference in direction has almost everything to do with the purpose and the intention of the practitioner. This is my thesis. For almost everything the flow is strong upwards. For the purposes of the meridian's namesake "Conception" the flow can empower downward. These purposes would be menstrual, and gynecological, and natal. Now why would this be important to know, for someone like me, who is concerned with Astral Projection, and Remote Viewing? Anthony VanWagnerThe Astral Atlaswww.astralatlas.com P.S. Dr. LaTourrette, I think this hyper-linked highway, which goes both ways, is a phenomenon which occurs at the surface, which MIGHT contradict the figure 8 theory behind the the circulation of the Ren and the Du, the Central and the Governing. Guest guest
>I agree with Donna Eden that this Vessel flows upward, which goes against >almost everything I have been taught. - Mixed metaphorically speaking... This is a common misunderstanding in TCM. The Yellow Emperor's translation should be to |Release| Downward. |Release| opens the channel for the energy to flow upward. Donna and the Yellow Emperor are saying the same thing. When you close the circle by touching your tongue to your teeth then the Wheel rolls forward and you have a free ride. But the power always begins with Release into the Yin. As the release dumps all accumulated weight and flows like water downward and behind, the Yang floats like cloud upward and forward and the wheel rolls effortlessly in the vacuum left by the rising Yang. It's so easy, once you let go of all that's holding you back, to follow the chi. Chi Follows Yi [mindful release]. Remember you cannot move chi by muscle or force. Chi follows empty and open and fills all hollows and spaces as long as they are OPEN to it. You direct chi by opening a pathway for it. Downward is the Release so the Chi can flow upward. sung. rusty - phornepax astralatlas ; Mind Mastery List ; ; creative_energies Tuesday, April 08, 2008 11:37 PM Finding your Way through the Jade Labyrinth I am almost through my first Tri-mester in Oriental Medicine, and I have been thinking about the Ren Mai, or the Central Meridian. Guest guest
Very good. This is applies to the Yin qualities of blood as well as far as the Central and Penetrating Flows go, I think. Rusty, most Qi Gong teachers should include what you are writing when they teach the Microcosmic Orbit, because I think that most students are getting the wrong idea. If we follow this line of thought then there really is something to the figure 8 design. Except that I maintain that the qi flow of the meridian occurs at the surface. The water wheel and figure 8, in this instance, work as metaphors.
