The whole concept is about change and motion and which element leads to to which. It's the flow that we focus on. .. Water feeds wood which feeds fire which yields earth which houses metal which condenses vapor to water and on and on etc. If one is Acting as Wood then this action will work best upon Fire. If one wants to give to Water then act as Metal. The objective is to be flexible and to move in the way of nature and it's elements. rusty - " aeambassador " <aeambassador Saturday, April 16, 2005 10:23 AM Elements > > > > I'm reading and rereading the Donna's descriptions of the elements, > and it seems to me that a thought I had a while ago was correct. Guest guest
We all contain all the elements. Good observation. Most of us have a predominate one. Here's a quick test you can take to perhaps guide you a little bit. http://lotusinstitute.com/5ElementsQuiz.html Just something I ran across by doing a Google search.... Like you said, " We contain all the elements and we have a predominate one. " It also seems we have different levels, layers or rings of elements and placement of the elements on each ring, ie predominate one on each level can be different, level to level. The further out we get from who we really are or the closer in we get they pretty much change from ring to ring. One of the useful keys is playing with all the element in situations. It makes it easier when we move from one level to another. It creates flexibility, creativity and curiosity. We get to enjoy more and have more fun in the process. What seems to trigger the movement from one ring to the other is pressure to the point where the ring one is on just doesn't work anymore. Guest guest
I had seen this a while ago. I didn't care much for doing the quiz too much since some of the words seem to mean the same thing to me, some of them I don't know what 'they' mean by using certain words, and most of them are contextual (at least for me). My guess is that is a metal thing to do, or maybe not. When I look at what I do NOT relate to, then it becomes easier. I do NOT relate to the fire or earth elements as easily yet. But I do relate to the metal, water and wood elements quite well. Water probably being the predominate one, which the wood is not too particularly fond of. Nor the metal. I think I could find some use of that magic question here. As well as noticing the elements in other people to get a clearer idea of what they are and their varying degrees. Guest guest
> Greg - Thanks for the link. I wonder why WIND (air) isn't represented? I would never have thought I was mostly fire - but according to this test, I am.... Thanks again, Helen D.
Guest guest
I liked the test and it sort of confirmed my suspicions. I came out at 20 20 20 19 18 or somat like that.
Guest guest
Hmmmm, the well balanced question.....I come up as a fairly even mix even though i wouldn't say that I was necessarily....then again, maybe i just have a need to identify strongly with something? IS the object of the exercise to balance the elements though??? I don't think so. Strong elements can bring out the best (which encourages an evolution) and worst (which pushes their buttons and can also result in evolution) in those around them - and themselves - and that helps me to get to know those areas of myself that I don't like when I am around them. Just look at Donna and David. Fire and metal - I think that is part of what makes their sessions so effective. A strong element on a team can be balanced by surrounding themselves with the other elements.... - coachdrgridley Saturday, April 23, 2005 6:59 AM Re: Elements In a message dated 4/17/05 4:48:59 AM, aeambassador writes: I know I have tendencies from all five, but I don't overly identifywith any of them. You might be (gasp!) well-balanced.
