Guest guest
Hello everyone. I have a client who is suffering from Chrohn's Disease, and has been for seven years. Unfortunately the medical establishment got to her first, and now she has turned to alternative therapies for help. My difficulty is in knowing where to start - frankly, she's a mess! She has been on several different types of steriods in an effort to control the Chrohns, but developed every single side-effect you can get with each one. To wit, she now has arterio sclerosis, osteoperosis, glaucoma, hypertension, arthritis, and gained 150 pounds, all without really controlling the original disease. She had open heart surgery last summer, and now they want to remove her Large Intestine altogether. This is why she decided to see me, but in all honesty, I don't know what I can really do for her, and would really appreciate suggestions. She came for one visit so far, where I took her history and chose points to increase the qi of her Heart, Sanjiao, Liver, Lung, Spleen and Large Intestine. I also used auricular seed therapy to try to control the diarrhea, and simulate the Kidney between visits. Her next appointment is on Friday, and I'm already worried about it. Can anyone help? Guest guest
Well, this indeed is a difficult case.... wow.... But don't despair and don't think you need to do everything all at once... It took her a long time to get into this situation and it will take alot of work on your part to get her balanced again... I have a feeling that the acupuncture is really going to help her... Is she on alot of medication? Forget (or keep in the back of your mind) the Western diagnosis and go from what you see in terms of TCM (assuming you are a TCM acupuncturist) ... clearing phlegm/damp (St. 40, 36, spleen 6 and 9) come to mind... St. 37, 25 and Ren 6, 12 for the large intestine problems... You know the points.... Go from where she is... you can help her there is no doubt... write, doug << To wit, she now has arterio sclerosis, osteoperosis, glaucoma, hypertension, arthritis, and gained 150 pounds, all without really controlling the original disease. Guest guest
Aloha Christine, Have you thought of using Acidophilus and Bifidus to help heal the intestines? I am a firm believer in replacing in the body what is supposed to be there, and have seen dramatic results in numerous people. You may say that I am biased, I've been using Cell Tech products for 10 years, but I've personally seen and heard about remarkable results with them, changing peoples' lives, especially the probiotics and enzymes. I would go extremely slow, with all the drugs, the bacteria balance is off. From a nutritional standpoint, all the nutrients are absorbed in the intestines and the bacteria balance is so important. I would imagine she probably has candida also. I believe the acupuncture is extremely beneficial, but helping build her immune system nutritionally is also. Her body has to be fed and the enzymes and probiotics just help the body receive the nutrients from the food. Most people are overfed and undernourished, and live pretty stressful lives. I hope I haven't stepped outside the boundaries here, but it all works together. The probiotics will help with the diarrhea and with the enzymes will help get her digestion and elimination back into balance. And at least she's open to try something different and not going under the knife again losing her large intestine. The probiotics are so beneficial. Bifidus lives mainly in the large intestine. It's all so important, I know just from my own personal history. Let me know what you think, I'd be happy to give you more info. And good luck in helping her heal.
