Hi everyone,

I am a nurse trying to educate people on the effects of DEHP. DEHP

is a plasticizer added to PVC plastic to make it soft. DEHP is found

in many medical products like IV bags and IV tubing. DEHP leaches

out of the IV bag and enters the patient and has many health

consequences. The FDA just put out a notification about how DEHP may

have negative effects on many patients. Please read this link for

the FDA notification. http://www.fda.gov/cdrh/safety/dehp.html I

thought you all would want this information. I was hoping you could

all respond regarding your feelings on this issue. I am educating

patients on this issue because I do not feel hospitals should be able

to use potentially unsafe products; especially since there are safe

alternatives available. Thank you.
