Guest guest
Copper Bracelet CareAlthough magnetic therapy is a relatively new concept in the United States, it has been practiced in other culturesfor centuries. In fact, the first reported therapeutic use of magnets involved the grinding up of magnetite, a naturally occurring material, and the application of this in a poultice to uncomfortable areas of the body.Today magnets are used by many for pain relief, reduction of inflammation and improved circulation. Some also believe that the use of magnets promotes increased athletic enduranceand performance. There are also many other benefits attributedto the use of magnets, but as we are not in the medical field weare not listing them here. For further information on the usesof magnets you might refer to your local library or the Internet. An excellent site we recommend is http://www.buryl.com.In response to customer demand, Sergio Lub now uses two permanent rare earth magnets in some of his bracelets. They provide about 4400 to 6400 gauss, depending upon the width of the bracelet. (Magnetic strength is measured in gauss. Just to compare, the magnetic field at the earth's surface is about.5 gauss. The body's magnetic field is one billionth of a gauss. A refrigerator magnet measures about 200 gauss.)While magnets are generally safe, there are some times when they should not be used. The most frequent precautions we have read are:DO NOT use magnets if you are pregnant.DO NOT use magnets if you have a pacemaker or otherelectrical implant device.DO NOT use magnets if you suspect you have a tumor, cancer, or any infection. It is not recommended to use magnets in these cases unless specifically instructed by a qualified health practitioner.DO NOT use magnets right after an injury has occurredor if you have a bleeding wound.DO NOT apply magnets to the head area.MAGNETS ARE NOT RECOMMENDED to be worn with a watch or to be brought in contact with sensitive electronic devices. Remember these are very powerful magnets. Also, if you have any concerns about wearing magnets, it would be wise to consult your physician before making a decision. Finally, we are jewelers, not medical professionals, and wecannot make any medical claims about the therapeutic use of magnets. We are not in any way promoting them as medicaldevices. They are suggested by some for use to enhance the body's own healing mechanisms.Andrew Pacholyk LMT, MT-BC, CAPeacefulmind.comAlternative medicine and therapiesfor healing mind, body & spirit! Guest guest
Magnets are like drugs. They fix symtoms - but have adverse side-effects. Magnets foul up one's acupuncture meridian energy circuits and over a period of time can affect organs in other parts of one's body. I'd be willing to send you a report explaining more on this. Guest guest
Key phrase " over a period of time " I'd be interested in adding this to my magnetic theray library, thank you Jerry. duncancrow That would be a good reason why magnet therapists utilize the magnets for brief treatments of perhaps 1/2 hour, and many do not recommend them for steady use. Nevertheless, except for the jury still being out on magnetic mattresses, the therapy appears to work OK, particularly the wraps. The tiny magnets in the copper bracelets are practically useless however. In magnet therapy size does matter, and the spot magnets should probably be bigger. If anyone wants to learn about magnetic and electromagnetic therapy, and can understand actual research, a discussion group called bioelectromagnetics at is open to everyone. It's mainly scientists, some of whom wrote some of the books you'll run into as you look into magnetic therapy. Duncan Crow > Fw: Copper Bracelet Care > > Magnets are like drugs. Guest guest
Jerry-- I " m not knowledgeable enough in the field of magnets / effects, etc., to support OR counter your information---I just know THEY WORK---but I would be interested in reading what you have....I've not heard / read about possible negative / adverse effects from using magnets on the body, so yes, please share what you have.... However, I _DO_ know that a magnetic bracelet i wore a couple of years ago helped my hand / arm tremendously--- wish I had another one! The one I had, most of the magnets fell out over time (I never took it off for anything) and it became ineffective, so I just took it off....and now, I am unable to find another one like it.....it was one of those nice jewelry-quality bracelets with magnets embedded all around the underside....sure do miss it.... ;-) deb - " Jerry Mittelman " <jmittelman Date: Sun Jul 6, 2003 4:02 pm Subject: Fw: Copper Bracelet Care Magnets are like drugs. Guest guest
Deb, Drugs, like magnets, also 'work' - and in the short term - crisis care - they are helpful. But many people take them over a long period of time with the resulting adverse, side effects. I'd be pleased to send you the report if you reply with your street or po box address. (I'm 'scanner' deficient.)
