As I have pointed out elsewhere, however (and have been slammed as a shill for Monsanto because of it), aspartame paranoia can be bad for diabetics. Nutrasweet helps diabetics survive their disease so that they may later die of cancer. That it causes people to " crave carbohydrates " is nonsensical in that carbohydrates are molecule groupings. People on the Atkins diet, for instance, often crave pastas and breads because they haven't had those things in a while, not because of any molecular attraction. Also, the notion that Nutrasweet cuts off the sugar supply to the brain much like marijuana, and hence causes the " munchies " effect, simply goes against the experience of most pot smokers and Diet Coke drinkers. Having said all that, let me reaffirm that this is important parapolitical history that everyone needs to pay attention to. Like the liberation of the Iraqis and the capture of Abu Abbas, any plus side to such nefarious goings-on has no direct causal connection to the intent of the conspirators.
