Greetings:

It's been a while since I've wandered in, and even longer since I

posted the chakra material we've discussed here a few times. If you

are interested in reading about the seven chakras, you can find the

text files in the shared files area in a folder entitled Chakra

Files.

The information is also on

http://www.geocities.com/nrgbalance/rainbow.html

The word chakra is Sanskrit in origin and means " wheel " . I often use

the expression energy center instead, since many traditions have

energy centers but not all study chakras. The Chinese, for instance,

generally use a five center system, five being a holy number for

them, and combine the root/sacral and brow/crown into single

centers. The seven chakra system we are used to seeing used in most

New Age energy work systems originates in India, and in Tibet.

(Usui System Reiki, by the way, though it has some questionable

roots in Tibet, was founded by a Japanese man, Mikao Usui).

Though many of these people practice Buddhism, they do not all

practice Buddhism, and even those that do are not practicing the

same form of Buddhism. Westerners tend to generalize a lot when it

comes to Eastern thought and philosophy; that is naive. A Zen

Buddhist, a Pure Land Buddhist, a Theravada Buddhist and a Tibetan

Buddhist probably have less in common than the various sects of

Christianity do one to another.

Just FYI for you folks. It is good to know the facts about what you

are learning and doing or interested in exploring.

Blessings,

Crow
