Hi Everyone,

I'm new on this list.....I discovered it on the Caroline Myss

board. I was wondering if any of you have ever read or know anything

about the Water of Life, by Martha Christy? I'm not entirely certain

how or why I ended up reading about drinking urine this morning, but

I can't seem to get it out of my mind.

I find it very interesting that the urine of AIDS patients

carries the antibodies, and that there are some of them touting the

drinking of it as an almost miracle cure.

All I've heard is you dont drink your urine because its full of the toxin

that you're eliminating from your body.

Kate:

What you've heard is correct; it's not healthy or sensible to recycle your waste

products back into your body, or into anyone else's, for that matter. I have

heard various things over the years about using first morning urine for this and

that, including infant's urine for acne, etc. Mostly that is because of the

higher concentration of excreted hormones in the morning urine, and the higher

acidity, which acts as an exfoliant. There are also sects in India who consume

their own urine for some reason, but it hasn't caught on generally, for obvious

reasons.

Having never tried it, I can't endorse it, and frankly, the idea repels me after

years of handling excretory samples in various forms for laboratory analysis.

" Water of Life " ? Please. Drink good, clean water, if you need water, and don't

tax your kidneys by making them refilter what they've already done efficiently

before ;-)

I would think this would be particularly dangerous for people with a compromised

immune system, as a person who has active AIDS. There will always be people out

there who will try anything as a last resort, so I'm not surprised, but I'm not

amused, either. It's not a good idea, and the logic of consuming it on the off

chance there are useful antibodies in it makes as much sense as eating pus

because

it has white blood cells in it.

Dear Crow:

You sure made that very clear, yuk! LOL.

And as a nurse, I totally agree with you.

There is a group in my town who was giving workshops on this very practice,

and extolling it's virture. But the catch was, they were using a

homeopathic dilution of the urine, which is a whole different topic, and I'm

still sure I wouldn't do it. But if it's diluted to 30C or more, the actual

urine toxins would not be in it. I'd have to really research what the

homeopathic reason for it would be, can't think of one off hand.

Thanks for your post.

Connie:

I'm not sure about the homeopathics of it, I'm sure that there might be some way

to filter and distill certain things out of urine, just like any other liquid.

In

that case there might be some value in it, sort of... like reinstilling

someone's

blood cells after filtering them for post surgical use.

I wonder how the mind interprets consuming waste, especially since we are reared

with the concept that our discharges are unclean (don't children love to play in

their diapers and the toilet? Seems some folks never outgrow that)

Dear Crow:

I asked a homeopath about using homeopathic urine and he said, and I

quote, " it would not be a good idea " as you are putting things that have

already been successfully excreted back into the system. Urine is only a

snapshot in time, not an indicator of whats going on with the entire body

over time. Basically, he agreed with your post. :-)
