Guest guest
On Oprah the other day, I heard a woman express that as part of her work in improving her love for herself and others she wanted to stop gossipping. She said she actually felt that the behavior is compulsive, and acts like a drug... from the titillation and excitement of receiving it to the depression, shame and letdown after it is passed along, until the next bit of garbage is filtered through... over and over, a descending spiral of disintegrating spite. Thank you for the poem, Harold, it is very valid as we seek to become loving beings that support rather than destroy each other. As Martin Luther King said, you can't knock a man into a ditch without getting dirty yourself. Guest guest
THREE GATES If you are tempted to reveal A tale to you someone has told About another, make it pass, Before you speak, three gates of gold These narrow gates: First " Is it true? " Then, " Is it needful? " In your mind give truthful answer, And the next is last and narrowest, " Is it kind? " And if to reach your lips at last It passes through these gateways three, Then you may tell the tale, nor fear What the result of speech may be. From the Arabian (Tapestries of Life) A friend just mailed this to me and I found this to be very inspiring. Hope that someone gets something out of this. Guest guest
Dear Harold; The poem you posted was both meaningful and timely. I've recently noticed a great deal of negativity on another list to which we --so much that I've stopped posting to it, as I find that even one or two people can sometimes cause an unpleasant " ripple effect " which can adversely affect many others. With your permission, I'd like to pass the poem on to the above mentioned list. Perhaps an infusion of this sort is just what is needed to create a more loving " ripple effect " . I will not post this without your express permission and will look forward to hearing from you either way. Thanks for the smile. Guest guest
Hi Florie: By all means post it to whoever you want. I am not the author and it does me good knowing the positive feed back it has received. Like this group , I thought it would fit in here since I try so hard to incorporate a balance between the body, soul and mind. Thanks for your words of kindness and all the very best. I wish everyone here, a day full of sunshine and a heart full of love.
