Guest guest
Hi Ellie: I have been doing a lot of net research over the past few days, and this is a concern for me; I am going in for a " CPAP Challenge " sleep study next week to see if I can tolerate the machinery. Some people can handle it better than others, for several reasons. Does your machine " ramp " the air pressure? Do you have humidification? What sort of mask are you using? Is the pressure/cycle ratio matching your breathing pattern? All these things seem to be issues, and most have several solutions, I understand. It might also be that it is the concept as much as the reality that is making you feel claustrophobic and suffocating. In addition to mechanical adjustments, I would suggest that you try some hypnosis to support you with your breathing and tolerance of your treatment. I have gotten so many positive emails in the past few days from folks who talk about how this therapy has changed their lives for the better that it has erased much of my initial trepidation. I'd also like to share a URL for SleepNet, the Sleep Apnea forum where I have found a lot of good info and support following my diagnosis of OSA. Maybe it can be helpful for you, too: http://www.sleepedu.net/forums/apnea/apneainf.html Sending positive thoughts and energy to you, Crow " Look for Rainbows in the Darkness " GRANDMABEAR712 wrote: > Florie, > I'm having problems getting use to the CPAC.
