Guest guest
I have recently joined this list and recently been diagnosed with a hyperactive thyroid. Medical doctor has recommended 'nuking' the thryoid with radioactive iodine, which would make me hypoactive and necessitate the taking of lifelong daily medication. Other option is longterm daily medication to manage the hyperactive thyroid which I am told will only prolong the inevitable 'burning up' of my thyroid thus necessitating the medication for a hypoactive thyroid. I would like to know if anyone has had success in homeopathically treating or being treated for hyperthyroidism (overactive), and if so how and what was done, and by who. I am also intereted in any other alternative healing methods that might help. I am in the Chicago (northwest suburban) area. Thanks! Guest guest
Please look into seeing an acupuncturist in your area. Their methods are effective and non-invasive. Dear Jennifer, I have a friend who was diagnosed with Graves Disease and for that the treatment options were was the same as you have described. She implemented a very focused program of nutrition, nutritional supplementation and other self healing practices including meditation and visualization. She was completely successful in restoring healthy function to her thyroid and when I had contact her was maintaining a healthy thyroid for years following the original diagnosis. In her research she did discover that " aspartame " in the diet soda products she was drinking at the time was contributing significantly to her problems with her thyroid. In fact she believes strongly that it was largely responsible for the disease, while realizing her personal Karma as well. I have lost contact with her or I would put you in contact with her. Please feel free to contact me privately if you have further questions. -- Barbara Neebel Meier, PEHA, Windemere School of Eastern Healing Arts Breath Teacher Reiki Master Teacher www.windemere.org Barbara

Guest guest
I would second that ,but go a bit further and add to find a practitioner of Orientla Herbal Medicine in combination you should be able to signifcantly reduce your symptoms and avoid radiation. Also Pranic Healing work would be great to assist in your healing process. There are several in the Chicago area. Use radiation only as a last resort(though I am sure this is " singing to the choir " ) Good Luck. You should be able to find a practitioner by asking in a local health food store or natural healing newspaper. Ask around and see who people recommend. Be love and laugh!! Guest guest
My thanks to all of you who have responded with ideas and resources ... ... I will be contacting a few of you personally to talk further .. I have found a homeopathic doctor in Chicago, highly recommended by 3 people I know and trust. Have also found an accupuncturist whom I will be meeting with after I meet with the homeopath (whom cannot get me into see her until Nov, 1 !) ...... I've also stopped drinking diet soda and using artifical sweetners and am anxoius to how this will begin to help. I truly appreciate all of you offering your wisdom ... thank you.
