Guest guest
Greetings -- I, too, have enjoyed the increased activity on this list. Unfortunately, I have so many irons in the fire right now that I don't have lots of time to participate. De-lurking to ask your help. Does anyone know what the CPT (procedure codes) are of energy work modalities -- Reiki, TT, Polarity? I may be working for a rehab / pain mgmt clinic, and the administrator wants to know if these modalities can be billed separately from massage. She thinks they'd be billed as massage (soft tissue manipulation), but that doesn't sound right to me. It would make sense if you are doing both massage and energy work, not if you are just doing Reiki, let's say. My own practice as a massage therapist and energy worker has been all private pay, so I'm not familiar with billing practices. Thanks for any help you can offer. Yours with healing energy. Be well all. -- Bea
Guest guest
Bea: I have been the same; I have never taken insurance for energy work, so I am at a loss about how that would be coded, if at all. You might want to contact the Healing Touch office for information about that (check http://www.healingtouch.net ). I would also feel uncomfortable using a massage code for energy work, since I have been striving to keep the two separate regulatory issues. Another source of good info might be Light & Adonea at their Reiki Pages (check http://www.angelfire.com/az/SpiritMatters ) Good luck, I hope there is a simple compromise.
