Guest guest
Sounds like you have a similarly varied background to mine. I've told people for years that I'm not sure if I have a wide range of interests or just a short attention span. The thing I'm trying to figure out for myself is if I'm still trying to find my true path or if my true path consists of moving from thing to thing. Guest guest
Dear Christine and Betty, Yes, do give Acupuncture a chance to resolve physical/emotional imbalances. As previous responses have suggested it will not happen immediately, but with a good practitioner who knows Chinese herbs, the results are very good. Also, as was suggested, consider nutrition, exercise, rest...these are all factors in achieving and maintaining wellness. As your experience has shown you, there is no magic pill or quick fix. Unfortunately, western medicine has promoted this concept to people, and in many cases, their own experience is showing them something different. Also, make sure you are not dehydrated. Most people do not drink enough water, just plain water (at least 64 oz. a day/yet most need more). Fluids are important, but not sugary, caffinated or iced fluids. All the best to you. Healing and good health is a lifestyle, and once we make the shift, our lives can change forever. Aloha, Janine Wrzesniewski, L.Ac., LMT Hawaii Hello, I am new to this board. I was wondering if you could give me some insite. A yr ago I was given drugs called Paxil and Zoloft and had very very terrible reactions to them. The doc was not paying attention. I did not need them. Anyway, to be able to cope with the tremors and anxiety and post tramatic strees which it created, I was put on Xanax. I am trying to taper down very slowely, and was wondering if acupuncture would help with any of the symptoms. I get jittery alot, anxiety is very high, I feel my blood pressure is going wacky sometimes, and I have obsessive thoughts, such as when is this going to end, did these drugs damage my brain or my body, etc. I am a 44yr old female and these drugs have created havoc with my body and mind. Can acupuncture help? I thank you for any information you can give me. Thank You Christine from Omaha ______________________ ______________________ Message: 2 Tue, 1 Aug 2000 10:13:00 -0500 Betty Engels <bjengels Re: Xanax withdrawl and problems Hi Christine,I'm new to it too,and I'm also interested in the answer to your query.I have a daughter with similar problems, also due to post-trauma depression.I had not given a thought to acupuncture, though I am a great believer in its healing powers, for this particular problem. Thanks for bringing it to the forground. Betty Engels Wisconsin RE: Xanax withdrawl and problems Christine & Betty In both the practice of acupuncture and Chinese Materia Medica (oversimplied when called herbs), I can tell you (for sure) that my experience both patient-wise and personally that these drugs ultimately make the condition worse due to the benzene and other solvents that are used in the manufacturing process not to mention that those drugs DON'T get at the root of the problem...................they just attempt to be antagonistic to the symptoms. The AP/OM profession is in a legal battle here in Florida at the moment so the attorney and I looked up the word 'allopathy' and were quite surprised at it's definition. Using an humanstic word such as 'antagonistic'. Western medicine is akin to a Neanderthal slamming an animal over the head with a large club. A gross approach to the wholistic approach of Chinese medicine which seeks to rebalance Qi, Blood and Body Fluids thus allowing the body to heal itself. Look to the body fluids in your systems as being both deficient and sticky or stuck. More often than not one will find excess weight or inability to lose it as an indicator. Not always but a high percent of the time. Chiense don't call fat -> fat....they call it mucus or phlegm BUT in reality it is stuck fluids. Those stucks and deficiency fluids create the conditions which give one BOTH anxiety/panic and guess what?.....depression. I call it fluid compression. I am very practical in my transliteration of patterns from Chinese medicine to what I call BLODY PLUMBING or BODY MECHANICS. Just an easy way to see the truth. Resolve the viscosity of those fluids by both bringing up the volume and at the same time making them flow smoother where they are supposed....and NO MORE anxiety/panic OR depression. And the last is most important. Even though one cannot separate the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual dimensions......when we resolve the physical depression or compression ALMOST 100% of the mental/emotional depression & panic/anxiety VANISHES. Magic? You might say. Go see a well trained acupuncturists AND one who knows very well how to use Chinese herbs. Richard Richard A. Guest guest
Been away for a while. Now I have a question about pain. I have "unstable joints," right now esp in my right shoulder. It has caused much pain for 6 month or so now. I have had PT, a little pain med occasionally, lots of essential fatty acids, bromelain, enzymes, Enflamease (rosemary, turmeric, ginger, holy basil, green tea, hu zhang, Chinese goldthread, barberry, oregano, baikal skullcap energy tested for dose), Soothanol (has DMSO and MSM and other stuff--don't have it right here, but I think the full combination wasn't good for me on a regular basis). Also had massage but very gentle because for a while the inflammation was horrible. Now that's a lot better, but I still have the pain in my shoulder. It originates around LU1. Or sometimes more at the shoulder joint. Sometimes aches like hell on inside of wrist and forearm. I have tried flushing LU, sedating LU, same with SI as it sometimes went to back of shoulder, and sedating Csx (forearm and decubital area), and of course the TW/SP stuff. And: Acupuncture. Spindle cell. Pain chasing. Figure 8ing. Even Donna worked it a little at the 5-day. And I am now using the hairbrush and more zone tapping. OK. Most of this stuff works. But when I move again--reach out or up or back, I hear this soft click and it's hurting again. It's really hard not to move. I had to give up yoga and all but treadmill exercises. Have gained weight--last thing I needed. And I can't even do all the energy poses! At least on the right side. Any more suggestions from the brilliant minds there? Don't be surprised if I've tried more than I remembered... Let me add that it is better. Inflammation is way down. But the basic instability has not held correction of any kind for more than a max of a couple days. And that was when I didn't move. Bicep tendon is involved, I think. And, I am well aware of emotional components having to do with my husband's disability and "shouldering more" of the load and being a "good soldier/soldiering on" (which my subconscious uses as a "shoulder" metaphor.) And right vs left meaning. But I must have missed something, so feel free to go over all territory. Sue www.coachdrgridley.com
Guest guest
Sue, > I have " unstable joints, " right now esp in my right shoulder. > I have tried <lots of stuff> > I am well aware of emotional components having > to do with my husband's disability and " shouldering more " of the load > and being a " good soldier/soldiering on " (which my subconscious uses > as a " shoulder " metaphor.) Have you done any EFT? By itself it's pretty good, but I like David Feinstein's Energy Psychology variations a little better, because he incorporates some of Donna's energy drills and testing. Lots of statements come to mind from reading your post, such as " Even though I have unstable joints, I deeply love and appreciate myself. " " Even though I feel pain in my right shoulder, ... " " Even though nothing I've tried seems to work for very long, ... " " Even though I'm shouldering more of the load because of my husband's disability, ... " This last may even bring up some underlying feelings (and now I'm projecting a little): " Even though I shouldn't have to be the one to be strong, ... " " Even though I resent that I have to shoulder all these responsibilities, ... " and so forth.. Kathy
