Guest guest
This brings up a new addition we added to our living room this winter: a full spectrum light. I am a displaced Southerner, and as such I'm not used to being cooped, even after my third winter above the Mason-Dixon. The sun is not as, er, sunny, in the winter, and from my readings I have gleaned that this is one of the causes of winter blues, or Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). On the days I can't get out, or it's a little raw and nasty, I plug in the light and bask in what is supposed to be the equivalent of noon in June (sans heat and tanning possibilities). Has anyone else had experience with full spectrum lighting? Blessings, Crow Talks-withtrees wrote: > Talks-withtrees > > Well, living in Florida here and winter blues free. Guest guest
I've been using " white " or full-spectrum light bulbs for about a year now, and I've been pleased with the results. It stays pretty wet and grey during the winter months where I live, and the decrease in light definately has a noticeable influence on the mood. I haven't found artificial light to be nearly as powerful or soothing as sunlight, but it does the trick when the sun is in hiding! The plants seem to like it as well. Now, if only I could figure out how to mount one outside my bedroom window to simulate sunshine on those grey mornings! That would be a boost! But for now, I'll be happy for the times when the real sun peeks out and blesses us with blue skies to bask under... :^) Love, Jen --- Caroline Abreu <crow wrote: > This brings up a new addition we added to our living > room this winter: a full > spectrum light.
