That seems like such a small thing to me--some poor guy trying to

make a buck. I never to spam emails...so easy to hit

the delete key...and once in a while some of it's interesting--just like

the junk mail in my snail-mail box. So spam is way down the list of

things I get upset about.

Sorry, Folks, for the unsolicited email. I have to admit that out of

laziness I had opened up the membership and had not been screening email

addresses, or we would have never had such an obvious spammer on the

list in the first place.

Oh well, back to the former way, at least for the time being. This has

been an interesting week, hasn't it? Does anyone know if there is some

astrological phenomenon occuring?

February 21, through March 15th, is a retrograde mercury period.

Misunderstandings, missed appointments, mechanical things break down

old unfinished business should be focussed on.

Yup...I agree 100%, it was rude & bad marketing--but e-commerce

will include " Rude & Bad Marketing. " The alternative is " Tax &

Regulate " from the bureaucracy--the funding for the Internet won't

appear by magic. As in most things, it will be a matter of choice,

and my vote goes for " Rude & Bad Marketing " over " Tax & Regulate. "

I like your logic, dc! :-) I know the bureaucracy is " slobbering in

the wings " waiting to tap into this e-CashCow (scares me to death).

I think we can self-regulate, but it will take some tolerance. I got

involved a while back against the rage-filled anti-spam groups...

I'm not a conspiracy type, but it sure looked like they were tied

into the Tax & Regulate folks, or at least used by them.

agreed....100%. i really don't see why anyone gets so upset about

spam. just delete it. it seems to me that the nature of this list is

to understand what things are really worth getting upset about ~~ and

the things that are not. now...the government starting to control the

internet is something worth getting upset about!!

i think i'd rather just delete the spam.

Question of perception - I don't regard this list as mail I regard it as

open conversation so butting in with an advert is just plain old

fashoned rude. Not to mention bad marketing.

It's not just the spam, it's the fact that these people to a list and

go

on " no mail " , never intending to participate in the forum, only to regale

everyone

with their advertisements. As a list owner, this is very frustrating,

especially

as I have attempted to keep from screening members. So, the occasional jerk

will

get in the door, and I will have to give him a Melvin and show him the way out.

Sorry about that.
