Mark, My understanding of bioenergetics is physical exercises that release energy blocks in your body. Alexander Lowen has written a number books on this form of BodyMind therapy, including one titled " Bioenergetics. " Of course, there are other forms of mind-body therapy and also " spinoffs " . I am familiar with Core Energetics founded by John Pierrakos from seeing a therapy trained in this method. I can't make any promises, but this type of therapy could help you. I found a good intro paragraph for people new to this form of therapy at: http://www.karinya.com/bodywk2.htm : " Bioenergetics and Core Energetics includes body -oriented psychotherapy, an off-shoot of traditional psychotherapy, is based on the belief that a body " armors " itself against painful and uncomfortable experiences, thus, preventing free expression and causing chronic muscular tension. This approach incorporates deep breathing, talk therapy, bioenergetic exercises and massage. The Core Energetics is added for a more spiritual aspect, the inner or higher self leading to a deeper knowledge through empowerment, according to practitioners. " Some links you might want to check are: The International Institute for Bioenergetic Analysis: Dedicated to the Practice of Mind-Body Psychotherapy http://www.bioenergetic-therapy.com/ Core Energetics: http://healing.miningco.com/library/weekly/aa041798.htm http://www.core-energetics.org / There is an interesting interview with Ken Dychtwald (author of " BodyMind " ) called " A Field Guide to Body Work " at: http://www.healthy.net/library/interviews/ferguson/figdbdy.htm and another interesting article called " Listening to the Body " : http://www.commonboundary.org/ARTICLES/970501.html Best wishes, MichelleH Talk to your friends online with Messenger. http://im.
