Guest guest
Hi, Just wanted to drop a note with regards to the thread on possession. I haven't written in some time but this is a subject I think on often. I am a Mental Health Nurse and also a HT practitioner. I have had clients say to me that their souls were in turmoil. This is common with the person who has been labeled " schizophrenic " . I personally believe that some mental disorders are Spiritual Crises. There are countless referrals to this in Jungian literature. James A. Hall in " Jungian Dream Interpretation " talks about an undeveloped ego connecting with the " Self " (regulating center of the entire psyche) and being assimilated ....resulting in loss of a " clear standpoint in consciousness or at worst, temporary psychosis " . The biomedical model of thought disorders chooses to state (no documented evidence I might add) that mental illness's (their definition) are caused by chemical imbalances in the brain. The imbalances are documented but no one has yet determined whether they are a result of the lack of balance in the life of the individual, the side effect of medication or? Its sort of a what comes first, the chicken or the egg. And with so much focus on the medical model, the person becomes a label - he is a schizophrenic, a manic-depressive, an obsessive compulsive. In this model there is no attempt at integration of the spiritual, mental and psychological components with the physical. There is an attempt to negate their socialization, their abuse and their family of origin issues, explaining it all away as a chemicle disorder. Are these people possessed? I believe a lot of them live in their own private hell! And if we give credence to good guides, how can we negate the possibility of the existence of the dark others? We all have a shadow side and accepting the existence makes it easier for us to live in the light. I have learned great lessons from my shadow. For myself, and the courageous people I work with, I promote balance, a positive connection with the universe and a conscious focus on doing our own inner work. I have certainly gone on here, but wanted to contribute from the connections with those suffering from mental disorders.
