Guest guest
hi guys, i know i'm generally a quiet lurker here. i am curious as to whether anyone here has somewhat in depth commentary on what saturn return is all about and how to figure out when exactly it's happening and how long it lasts. i am coming up on the last birthday of my 20's thank gawd and people keep looking at me with this knowing look and saying " ooooh you are in your saturn return " but not having much explanation about what that means exactly. thanks in advance and apologies if this is too off topic or personal. ~berlee

I noticed all my friends going through a transition and started asking people who were older if anyone recognized it or knew where I could learn more about it. " Saturn return " was the only real answer I heard and when I'd heard it three times, I started asking. I'd always poo-poo'd astrology before that, but hunting Saturn return got me into being a moderately competant astrologer. > and how to figure out when exactly it's happening Need to chart it. It happens at basically 28.5 years old, plus or minus about 8 months so it's different for everyone. Typically, it also crosses the return point several times in that frame. > and how long it lasts. Like all things astrological, it sorta fades in and fades out. It's not so much that one day it's on and the next day it's off. It's more like it rises in importance, peaks, and then fades until something else becomes more important and you stop noticing. Basically, the phase lasts a year or two on either side of the actual transition. The trick is that Saturn is almost a transpersonal planet, meaning that it more often tends to feel like something that occurs to you than it feels like a part you. So for most people, the actual affects of Saturn return tend to be noticed more like a year or two later. So most folks feel it at more like 28-30. > i am coming up on the last birthday of my 20's thank gawd and people > keep looking at me with this knowing look and saying " ooooh you are > in your saturn return " but not having much explanation about what > that means exactly. thanks in advance and apologies if this is too > off topic or personal. Saturn represents restructuring. From the time you were born, it's been travelling around in the sky, restructuring the various areas of your life, until at about 28.5 years old, it returns to the same place in the sky that it was when you were born. That is, it completes it's first big circle. Having completed it's first big circle, each area of your life will have been restructured once and the completion leads to a period where people go " aha! " a lot as bits and pieces of their lives begin to make sense like pieces of a puzzle falling into place. Unfortunately, Saturn being what it is, it tends to feel like it's out of our control. And Saturn return tends to bring big life changes. Lot's of divorces. People moving cross country, quitting jobs, getting married, switching careers, and the like. BIG changes. Several years worth. And I hear that the first one is the big one. People who've been through their second tell me it's just not that big a deal. First Uranus square seems to be a bigger one, but I haven't dived into that one as much yet. That's Saturn return. Best book I found on it is " Liquid Light of Sex: Understanding Your Key Life Passages " by Barbara Hand Clow. <http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0939680963/o/qid=940465255/sr=8-2/002-92\ 06505-0393827> Questions?
