Caroline,

What is the Native American Zodiac? (Forgive my ignorance.)

On a lighter note, my dog Ziggy is born September 20th, which I think makes

her a Scorpio. Any Scorpio's out there that can give me a little insight

into this sign (I don't know any Scorpios nor ever have!)

Regina. Thanx.

Hi Regina:

No ignorance involved, I'm sure that the Native American Zodiac is one

of those deceptively named things: neither NA or astrological.

I just recently found a book by that name, although I suppose that if

it is true to most Native thought, there would be 13 signs because

there are 13 moons in the year and all are named according to natural

signs of the season. I was delighted with the zodiac, though, because

I work a lot with personal animal totems and I thought it was

interesting that mine matched in that way. Other totems include

buffalo, bear, wolf, deer, owl and eagle... I can't remember the rest

right now.

These sorts of things are fun, if not authentic, and may help us

explore some of our personality traits more deeply.

BTW, if your dog was born on September 20th, Ziggy would be a Virgo.

* I don't know a lot about Scorpios, but I know a little. They are supposed

to be passionate lovers, compelling personalities, can be stubborn or

persistent depending which way you look at it, and a water sign. I have

scorpio rising and someone told me that helps to make a good healer with

psychic abilities. Maybe because they are so passionate? From what little I

do know of Astrology, I have read that the rising and moon signs are just

as important as the sun sign. The rising because it indicates how one

portrays oneself to the world, the sun sign is how one tends to think &

make decisions and the moon is for subconscous urges and patterns. At least

that is how I understand it. A real astrologer out there might want to

correct me LOL

Hope that helps some.

Namaste,
