Migraine is definitely a stress related syndrome, in addition to, in many people, an allergic reaction. Do you get " auras " before your headaches? In other words, do you experience anything before the headache that tells you the headache is coming? What symptoms are they? > So this poor decision has led me > here, to learn. I certainly applaud you for your courage and intrepid desire to release yourself from this substance in spite of your many life stresses which might prohibit most people from letting go of something that was limiting their growth. Seeing the therapist that you can process your issues with is very important for you, especially since you have been in a " numb state " for a long time, and now you are " waking up " ... it seems that your surroundings are overwhelming for you, but that you are learning to adjust well (the hot baths, candles, and music, etc). You might also profit from having some bodywork or energywork (or both). Relaxation massage, Reiki, Healing Touch, or Craniosacral Therapy could all help you in different ways. Reflexology might be a good option as well. Personally, I would encourage you to avoid substituting your previous addiction with another oral addiction; in other words, do not take herbs to relieve your tension from the loss of the pills. Instead, focus more on body movement, psychological tension relievers, stress reduction therapies and most importantly, a balanced diet, lots of water and plenty of rest, including naps if you need them. This is not a time to guilt yourself out, though, if you slip in your diet or stay up late. Give yourself some slack. Many times, migraines occur as a " reaction " to stress, whether that stress is a situation or something we consumed. Avoiding known migraine producing foods such as nitrates, chocolate, dry wines, hard cheeses, etc. Learning relaxation techniques to avoid getting " het up " in the midst of a stressful occurance. With some basic maintenance and self care you can heal yourself of the migraine syndrome; I did. -- Blessings, Crow " Look for Rainbows in the Darkness " -- Rev.
