Guest guest
Hi, bonnie wrote asking for help with a person with fibromyalgia. I have come across a great book: Healing Back Pain by Dr John Sarno. Don't let the title fool you, Dr Saro's approach to painful conditions of all types is really illuminating. He writes of many conditions of " chronic " and acute pain events-FM is included. His is a mind-body approach to pain. he feels that pain occurs to focus one's attention on the body rather than looking at what the emotional events that are going on in one's life. His approach is to educate the person on the mind's efforts to divert attention from feelings and emotions.. Basically it is suppressed anger, and it's the subconscious protecting itself from facing the emotional pain by creating phsyical pain. He calls it Tension Myositis Syndrome (TMS) The book is not long, and is written for the general public. You might recommend it to your client, I found it on Amazon.com, 10% off, 13.99 US, 17.99 Canada. the ISBN is :0-446-39230-8 Good luck. Guest guest
Actually, it was someone else who asked about help, but the book sounds very useful -- I'll check it out! Thanks!
