I definately think that I could use more training in the the " psycho " part of

the therapy I give. Bodyworkers give the cheapest psychotherapy around. I

would say that at least 2/3 of my clients come to me with not only their sore

muscles, and their stress, but their stresses, and problems. I am an

excellent listener, and I feel give good advice, however most of the

" problems " I have are way out of my scope of practice. So, what do you think?

Where should I start? got a reading list? suggested schooling?

Wondering.....Song

Brad, a wonderful combination you have going there. Certainly MT and

Psychotherapy are most compatible. Many people who come for MT also

need and

want the other. goes hand in hand. Your patients and clients will

benefit

greatly from your education. You are definately on the right track.

Best

regards, Winna

Thanks, Winna. A holistic approach to problems does make the most

sense, huh? A one-tool approach simply is inadequate. I drafted a

sample letter that I am going to send out to the prospective healers I

want to enroll. Maybe I'll post it and get everyone's feedback on it

before I send it out. THanks for your encouragement!

Combining psychology and bodywork

Well welcome Brad!

What I know of combining psychology and bodywork comes

more from Core Energetics (John Pierrakos) and

Bioenergetics (Alexander Lowen). Also " Focussing "

therapy does body-mind work.

Michelle

Thanks, Michelle. I am familiar with Bioenergetics, but not Core

Energetics or Focussing. Are they similar? Do you practice them?

Have you heard of Hakomi Therapy?

Greetings, Brad:

Well, it is always interesting to see who has entered the room. Where

are you located, and what are you doing your dissertation on?

Hi, Michelle. Thanks! I am in Southern California. Where is everyone

else located? Anyone near me? My dissertation is a multi-ethnic

comparison (Japanese-American, Mexican-American, African-American and

caucasian) spousal caregivers of persons with dementia. I co-wrote a

grant on that topic. If I had to do it over again, I would do it on

massage or dreamwork, both of which I find more interesting.
