Guest guest
Please note that an exe (Happy 99) was piggybacked to an email posted by one of the members of the list (it is entitled " Re: Helping KFPA " ). DO NOT OPEN THE EXE FILE OR YOU WILL INFECT YOUR COMPUTER WITH HAPPY 99. The file is a " worm " program, meaning that it does very little except that it reproduces itself by sending out a fake email following a legitimate email from your address with the exe packaged inside. Here is a URL where you can check your system for infection, and clear out any remnants if you have them: http://www.look.com/happy99_worm.html Don't be a carrier... check your computer out and don't open any exe files forwarded to you unless you are *absolutely* sure of their contents. Most everyone will see the file as encoded, since attachments are not supposed to come through the list, only plain text. Do not attempt to un-encode it, but delete it from your mail server, and you should have no problem with it. Guest guest
Thank You to those who warned me of the presence of this " worm " . It is gone now. I don't know if I was the party who brought it to the list or just a recipient of it. If I had anything to do with it -- my sincere apologies to all. mykal Caroline Abreu <crow < >; mykal <mykal Tuesday, May 11, 1999 10:32 PM [ADMIN] Alert: Exe Warning >Caroline Abreu <crow > >Please note that an exe (Happy 99) was piggybacked to an email posted >by >one of the members of the list (it is entitled " Re: Helping KFPA " ). > >DO NOT OPEN THE EXE FILE OR YOU WILL INFECT YOUR COMPUTER WITH HAPPY >99. > >The file is a " worm " program, meaning that it does very little except >that it reproduces itself by sending out a fake email following a >legitimate email from your address with the exe packaged inside.
