Well, Therapeutic Touch is undoubtedly the most researched technique

in current energetic bodywork practice; it's been around a long time,

it has a good solid background and a lot of hospitals have policy &

procedure statements in place for using it with patients. Even the bad

press of the JAMA article based on the science project of a child

whose mother is a member of a Colorado skeptic's society has not

affected professional opinion about TT. After all, the project wasn't

about TT. It was about whether the energy field was palpable ;-)

Healing Touch certainly gives the practitioner a bigger tool box to

work with, since it is composed of many different kinds of techniques,

and not just one. There is starting to be more research that is

specific to the techniques used in HT. Some TT people consider HT an

upstart program. It is important to note that Janet's vision is that

one day there will be a person in every home that can do energy work,

and that she is not " competing " with other energy work programs. She

encourages people who attend HT to pursue studies with others (such as

Brennan or Kreiger/Kunz) if they want to deepen their knowledge or use

of their work. It would be impossible in the program's weekend formats

to thoroughly cover all the systems represented. In addition, systems

like Reiki, Polarity, CST and Jin Shin are not included. It is a good

way to get an eclectic introduction to energy work that has practical

application right away and leaves you with a lot to think about and

pursue independantly if you want to.

Hope this helps.

Caroline,

That overview of TT and HT was great! It's all so fascinating. I have

a mish-mash of healing modalities: some shiatsu/Chinese

medicine/acupuncture/ swedish massage, Reiki, Ama Deus, Barbara Brennan

chelation et al, herbalism, etc. I am looking for more people to share

with in my area - Philadelphia - if people are interested. I know of

some Reiki shares and healing circles but not too many in this area.

Around here, there seem to be lots of people charging $$ for services,

etc., but not much sharing. Where are you located, Caroline? Any

Philly area people, feel free to email me personally or announce

yourself on the list.

Michelle
