When you are in the arena of self-healing, it is hard to tell you what

is right and what is wrong... for you, what is useful and supportive

may not be as helpful for me. But at the same time, with enough energy

and faith, anything can work for anyone! This is why it is so hard to

research these subjects in an objective way and get replication. It is

not that modalities do not work, it is that they are not consistent

when applied on a personal level. Then again, we are not consistent,

either...

And so, excluding the human factor, we talk about dis-ease and

disorders with a general set of signs and symptoms (a syndrome) and

share a set of " time proven " treatments that have helped to palliate

or alleviate signs and symptoms. This is the allopathic way of dealing

with the body, waiting until there are manifestations to do anything.

As far as spiritual growth or moral/ethical development, I can tel you

with assurance that those sorts of healing are just as individual as

the physical kind. Many people reach a place of spiritual satisfaction

from yoga or tai chi, which are on the surface only focus, breath, and

postures, but for the practitioner can transform from a sensual to a

spiritual task. Your chakra opening exercise from Brennan is the same.

If you do it without focus or intent, you are just dancing :-) I have

found that stretching and focusing concurrently can be very satisfying

on many levels, including helping me organize my thoughts and explore

feelings that come up. I also become aware of my body, and if I find a

sore or stiff spot, I trot to my references to see if I can find a

correlation I can work with, an issue that might be arising that I can

process and release. This didn't happen over night, this kind of

practice. I don't think it makes me a " better " person to do Self Reiki

or a Chakra Connection, or a moral giant to be stretching to keynote

focused music. I do think it makes me feel calmer and gives me a

deeper sense of well-being, and IMHO, that is where good ethical

choices come from, a place of peace.
