The list replies so far have been very interesting, but another

perspective. As an Original Real Hippie [san

Francisco/Haight/1965/66/67-then north beach], I took a LOT of acid, in

many different situations. all for the insight, of course. I had every

color/style that came out. one year, i took acid once every 3 days. and

this was in a supportive environment. i stopped in 1969, and never will

again, i am done with it.

Points:

1. there was amazing insight in some[some] trips. but you forgot it

later. --you see god, but forget what he looked like.--- these were set

up ahead of time to be like classes. these i still remember snatches of,

thats all.

2. the rest were trying to get to #1's level. didnt happen. many rides

were frankly terrifying. you MUST have an intact ego with most of your

demons under control, because they all come out and play. many of my

friends didnt make it--didnt die, but couldnt do life either. when i go

back to SFO, the people are either dead or in jail. or still living in

the 60's.

3. after all of that, I wouldnt have missed it for anything. BUT i

council against it, because-very little useful information/changes

actually happened.

It is soooooo very " dispersive " that it will take a long time to get it

back together. you will be tired/weary and not grounded until your brain

gets back--could be months/years.. you will feel like crap, basically.

you memory will suffer. your " WILL " or drive or " want to " may suffer big

time.

I would patially reccommend this to artists-REAL artist types who have a

block. they MAY be able to use/convert this to physical reality. this

is essentially using schizophrenia as a growth tool. it usually does not

work, ask a shizophrenic.

i would recommend a good behavioral therapist for short term therapy to

get past the baggage. you are not crazy,dont make yourself that way.

good luck on your journey.

Arabella,

No, hallucinogens are not intrinsically bad, and there are shamanistic

cultures which have build their initiation rites around them (see any south

american culture which uses ayahuasca in their rites for more examples of

how this is done). Recognize, however, that in such cultures, the person

who is given the ayahuasca is also prepared for and accompanied by a

shaman, who makes sure that the setting is right and that if the initiate

is unable to deal with their demons, that they are guided by someone who

has undergone the same ordeal. It's not a simple matter of taking the

hallucinogen and then waiting to see what happens.

While there are many people who use LSD as a recreational drug, Stanislov

Grof used it in a clinical setting with a number of patients with great

success. Of course, Grof prepared those patients with extensive

counseling, created a safe setting, and then guided his patients through

the experience. Have you heard of holotropic breathwork? Grof came up

with this breathing technique as an attempt to simulate the altered states

that LSD produces when researching with LSD became illegal.

If it were me, I wouldn't rule the possibility out just because of the

current paranoia about drugs; however, I would be VERY careful about

proceeding. First, since LSD is illegal, your therapist is getting it on

the black market or synthesizing it himself; either way, it's difficult to

know if it's really LSD, or something else, and if it is LSD, if it's pure

or if it's a bad batch. I would also question exactly what the therapist

is planning on doing once you've ingested the LSD. Is he just going to

watch you trip and see what comes up to the surface? If so, it's a bad

idea. Ask him how the LSD experience will be integrated into a therapeutic

session -- what does he plan to do, how will he focus you so that you're

actually able to access the right emotions, what his experience is in

leading people through an LSD experience for therapeutic purposes, what (if

any) training he has in doing this. If you do not trust him 100%, don't do

it -- there is nothing worse than being out-of-control and emotionally

vulnerable in the presence of someone who you cannot trust completely.

Best of luck making this decision!

of

<br>t>aking it. ???

<p>Actually, I was pretty stable in that I had a strong country background

behind me. & nbsp; (ie...alot of nature connection and solidness) & nbsp; The

LSD never scared me once. & nbsp; Mostly I was fascinated by what it caused....but

I didn't do it that much...perhaps a max of 10 times or so. & nbsp; (remember

this was early 70's and it was in vogue so that really isn't much) & nbsp;

I had a bad trip on Mesc. and cried all night and it was the last time

I ever did acid. & nbsp; & nbsp; This was because I was upset about a situation

and it only intensified the sadness. & nbsp; & nbsp; However. & nbsp; LSD and

Mesc are two different horses. & nbsp; LSD is heavy intense visuals and

distortions. & nbsp; & nbsp;

Like walls breathing in and out and melting (real walls) and laying your

arm against someone and watching it blend right into their body. & nbsp;

etc.

<br>There is no way ...from my experience.... this is anything spiritual

nor will it help release blocks. & nbsp; & nbsp; Been there, done that ...and

it was pure 'good' stuff back then...not trash. & nbsp; To me it wasn't a

scary thing... & nbsp; it was an experiment (on my part) to see exactly what

this stuff did. & nbsp; And each time was different. & nbsp; & nbsp; However, & nbsp;

let me tell you about wanting to come down from a 'bad' mesc trip and not

being able to..... & nbsp; you have to ride it out. & nbsp; & nbsp; Honestly...from

my heart to yours, & nbsp; I tell you ...that this is not, IMHO, the way

to release blockage and such. & nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; There are many other better

ways to achieve this. & nbsp; & nbsp; Get the tape by Michael Ryce & nbsp; " Why

is this Happening to Me AGAIN? " & nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; (recommend the video

tapes and not the book... ) 1-800-583-9827 & nbsp; & nbsp; The Michael Ryce

tapes are <b>excellent </b>and explain how thoughts work....

<p>Read the literature teachings at: & nbsp; & nbsp; <A

HREF= " http://www.movingintostillness.com/teach.htm " >http://www.movingintostillne\

ss.com/teach.htm</A> & nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp;

This releases blocks and it totally natural. & nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; Also, & nbsp;

NLP and work with a hynotherapist is much safer and faster.

<p>And another way I highly recommend is at:

<br><A

HREF= " http://www.amug.org/~dtmms/bookstore/index.htm#course " >http://www.amug.org\

/~dtmms/bookstore/index.htm#course</A>

<br><b>Module 2</b> works on shadow sides. & nbsp; These are good. & nbsp;

And at 12.50, inexpensive. & nbsp; Working outside in nature give amazing

insights and releases. & nbsp; And it is spiritually...awesome!

<p>> Is a hallucinogen intrinsically bad?

<br>In my opinion .. & nbsp; No. & nbsp; & nbsp; However the answer is 'Yes' & nbsp;

for what you are trying to achieve.

<p>>It's powerful, and I'm well aware that bad trips can be very bad indeed.

<br>Very bad and you cannot stop it. & nbsp; Understand this. & nbsp; You cannot

open your eyes and stop (like someone else said)...you have to ride it

out...for hours. & nbsp; Not a good thing. & nbsp; truly.

<p>>But I've had some astonishing highs on nothing more than Elgar, or

vivid colour. (Don't mean t>o sound pretentious, but ...)

<p>I have had some amazing highs on life.....and it is a much 'higher'

high than any drug I have ever tried. & nbsp; & nbsp; Bar none. & nbsp; And it

is more healing and releasing than any drug. & nbsp; Bar none!
