Guest guest
LSD is such a hard drug. It will reek havoc on the body. If you feel you must/want to do something, have a couple of drinks or a smoke.

To me, this sounds like using an atomic bomb, when a heat pack would do. I would also never see any therapist who suggested this type of situation ever again. Sounds like it's time to explore alright, explore other types of therapies or therapists. I know I promised to mostly lurk on this list, but this struck a button. Of course, this is all my own opinion (approximately $.02 worth). Karen O. Livermore, CA
Guest guest
As the clock ticked over midnight, it's my 41st birthday ... What an appropriate moment to ask for some thoughts from a wise list. This is a genuine request for advice, wisdom, information. Before the query, some background. My interest in body-mind is primarily selfish - I'm on the hunt for growth, answers, understanding etc. The more I know, the clearer I see, the more I can offer others, too – but first, me. I have to be honest about this! Low self-esteem, bad body image, self-loathing etc - usual cocktail of stuff. Parents both alcoholic, women in the family all obsessed with body image and the consensus reality of 'feminine' behaviour. that's all - no abuse, no trauma. Just steady diet of negative criticism. Lots of years to build up feet-thick defences, and, perversely, turn myself into the 'monster' that I understood myself to be as an adolescent. Now trying to unravel the knots - but my 41-year-old body-mind is cunning and quick and strong and patient. So ... I've been offered the opportunity to explore my (so far) unshakable body armour and extremely efficient mental defences, using LSD. This offer came through a therapist I've known for several years, and trust. Without going into the whole conversation we had this morning, what I'd appreciate from listees is some insight into the taking of/experience of LSD. I'm not in the habit of drug-taking - not so much as a hash brownie. Please don't go into the legal aspects - it's the physiological/emotional/spiritual aspects I need to know more about. Any constructive help and support would be very much appreciated. Flaming and judgemental comments wouldn't. thanks Arabella
Guest guest
My advice is against this. I tried LSD as a young girl. (many years ago as I am older than you) and I cannot see that it broke open any armours at all. In fact I would say that it may hamper your spiritual healing. But thats just my opinion. Gut. Guest guest
abs " Without going into the whole conversation we had this morning, what I'd appreciate from listees is some insight into the taking of/experience of LSD. " I would like to hear the conversation, especially if the person spoke to you as a therapist... I am intrigued as to how he would justify such a thing. Is s/he going to be your trusted monitor on the trip? Will s/he be tripping with you? What is your experience with drugs? Grass(I know you said no hashish, even in brownies)? Rather than just saying, " No, there are other drugs that are better, " I need more info. If you are going to experiment with drugs for the reasons you mentioned, LSD is a bad place to start. Mescaline would be more helpful or even peyote.. If your therapist has access to LSD, I feel confident s/he has access to those two. LSD just ain't worth the risk even in a safe environment. One of my high school buddies was burned so badly on bad acid(appropriate name for LSD), in 1968, he is still institutionalised in MA... I have experience with mesc and peyote (the last time in '71, mind you) but, because of knowing a few harmed by LSD, passed on that one... Guest guest
hmmm. all good points so far on the lsd. i'm curious why, with all the options out there, this therapist would choose to recommend lsd - a totally unnatural substance? if you are truly interested in exploring in that way, i would hesitate at such a harsh introduction. there are other options. shamans have long used herbal mixtures and various psybicillic (sp?) mushrooms as doorways - both to other lands and further into the body. i understand that you like and trust this therapist, but i think offering lsd to someone with little-no experience in this realm is rather like blindfolding a child, walking them deep into the forest and then telling them to find their way home again. research this before you jump in. using any sort of altering substance requires a good anchor in this world. make sure you have that. walk carefully. --greta
Guest guest
hey abs - DON'T DO IT!!! listen to Ged, I'm talking from personal experience here. I've taken acid, had some fine and illuminating trips and one bad trip that was HELL ON THIS PLANET. Acid doesn't change, it amplifies, and it lets what should be over *here* go over there. A great way of getting rid of barriers like a hand grenade in the mouth is a great cure for headaches... __ Ged ps are you doing Gerry next Friday? But I *have* done breathwork. And I have been told by many that breathwork is very similar to an LSD trip. There can be openings and rebirthings and reliving of old events and all that stuff. The big difference is that if it gets to be too much, with breathwork, you have options. You can simply open your eyes, sit up, and it all stops. With LSD you do not have this option. And with LSD, I hear tell that years later you can have flashbacks like tripping all over again without ingesting the drug again. Any time, any place. Scary. I would sure be looking into the history of any " therapist " who is pushing this powerful drug. Anukki
