Guest guest
Now Caroline, I thought it was like a crow and a brew and have not yet figured if it was a bubbling cauldron or a beer ; ) did you have to go and spoil it with reality laughing with fun after a sugar high from attending a 40th birthday tea party for me! Guest guest
> Chris Barrett <cbr > Re: Names... > For what it's worth, Alain, I used to work with a fella named Ray Gougeon, Wow. When you think you are unique… Reality knocks on the door. ;-) Really curious: the other day, a man named Gougeon came to visit me at my office. It happens that I had never even heard of anyone beside my family branch having that name for the last 30 years, not even when living in France, and now I come to meet one, (in uruguay!) and know of another one in canada. Now I only have to begin a search on the internet to find out that we are multitudes! (Gosh, I just did, and we are! ;-) > Caroline Abreu <crow > What is your full name, may I ask? Thanks for telling about your own experience Crow/Carol. (Indeed they sound quite the same...) My full name is Alain Jean-Marie Gougeon (Mennicken). The part that is in between () is because it is my mother's maiden name. We don't use it in France, but then we use it in latinamerica...I haven't yet sorted out if i should use it or not (regardless of the law). Names are something interesant. I can't remember what Alain is all about, but it was the name of some brutal barbarians by germany, long time ago. My mother named me not by these but by some swimmer that won a gold medal at the olympic games near my birth date. I have heard that the second name is the spiritual one, the one to be accomplished, while the first is the more mundane one (and what about the persons that don't have two?) It is interesant to see in my case that my second name is in fact two, but they are joined by a dash, all which, in turn, is kind of a representation of a major aspect of my natal chart: an oposition (dash) between Saturn (John) and the Moon (Marie). Interesant, no? (but then information is not knowledge...). Hmmmm… and what about the bodymind connection in all that. Well… In fact it is all about it, I just don't know exactly how. But I sure would like to. ;-) > tape your name on a cassette for you, so that when you feel disenfranchised you may listen to how your name is > supposed to sound, and allow the vibration to realign you to the " soul purpose " it represents. No problem with that as I speak french myself (left when I was 18), I mean, taping it. Now, what your " venerable husband " (is he so old? ;-) says does ring something in me… > The way I see it, Alain, is that when we begin to pronounce our names the way > others pronounce it, we begin to fit the image that *they* have of us. And > unless we are very carefull, and very diligent, we begin to fit ourselves into > the mold of how others perceive us, losing sight of who we really are. People > are forever mispronouncing my last name, Abreu, and I still will tell them the > way it *is*, in fact, pronounced. Thanks for the comments Manny. I'll try that. I have tried to mold myself to others perceptions for a long time now. And I can't live that way anymore. I am in the process of change. So what you say does ring a bell. The whole thing to me is to know what my name really is, or say, what I really am, want, like, dislike, etc. And one of the hardest part I think is to take responsability for the whole thing (and taking off the mask though exposing myself in a diferent way to people who know me already, but diferent). For a long time I have put everything as an " others' " responsability, like " they forced me to " , and now I am understanding that in fact it was just me putting them there. Pretty funny in fact. Manipulation I think it is called. Hey... it's pretty dark outside… Let's light some candles. ----- Alain Gougeon Analista de Sistemas Montevideo, Uruguay, América del Sur ajmg http://members.tripod.com/Alain_Gougeon _____ Get your free, private email at http://mail.excite.com/
