Guest guest
Dear Jamie, I don't know if there is any C in powder form that isn't derived from corn, but Twin Lab's Allergy C in capsule form is from Sago Palm and is corn-free. I suppose you could open the capsules if you only want powder, though it does sound like a real nuisance. I don't want the corn either (genetically engineered)! Guest guest
I know there is a form of Vit C from beets as well but I don't know if it can be purchased readily... usually it comes in an IV form. Maybe I will try the one you suggested as well. Thanks a lot. Guest guest
Hey, I didn't come up with the recipe!! ;o) I would tend to think that since it's hard to get 500 mg. (or better!) by diet alone, and keeping in your body (as it is water soluable) this would just be a way to help maintain the levels, but as I said...I didn't come up with the recipe! In Health, Steve ----------------------------- Pith is good! Oh yay. I wonder what I thought I read then.....I thought someone had written asking if you needed to remove the pith and I thought I read that it was better to do that. Whatever I thought I read, I tried doing that, and it was like impossible. Or maybe it was something other than the pith you're supposed to avoid? Don't even know anymore.....maybe I made it up. ...and making the C more Bioavailable!! Steve ----------------------------- I thought the pith was full of bioflavonoids which have great nutritional value. I think they are good for counteracting arthritis and a lot of other bone and muscle complaints. Jennie On the other hand, Steve, since I think a " normal " dose of vitamin C is 500 mg, wouldn't 8 mg. of vitamin C for a Tbs. make it kind of pointless? I kind of like the flavor of it in my drinks....it makes it kind of sweet, I think. I've dried organic oranges when I've done this before. One of my reference books has 8 mg. of vitamin C for a Tbs. of orange peel & lemon peel; assumedly fresh (and do't know how cocentrated the drying would make it, or if organic would make a difference). Just watch out for the first try to see if you have an allergic reaction if you've never tried this before! Guest guest
WHat books do you have? They seem to have a ton of good information in them.
