Guest guest Posted August 6, 2001 Report Share Posted August 6, 2001 In the May, 2001 issue of Life Extension magazine, the following chart was displayed to help in decyphering the analysis of blood test results, and the prevention of heart attacks and strokes (but could be optimal range for all around wellness) *Note that the acceptible range for the medical interpretation is much lower in some cases (as usual:) than the " optimum range*: Blood test Standard reference range Optimal level Fibrinogen up to 460 mg/dl under 300 C- reactive protein up to 4.9 mg/dl under 2 (1.3 in some studies) Homocysteine up to 15 micro mol/L under 7 Glucose up to 109 mg/dl under 100 iron up to 180 mg/dl under 100 mcg/dl Cholesterol up to 199 mg/dl between 180 and 200 LDL cholesterol up to 129 mg/dl under 100 HDL cholesterol no lower than 35 mg/dl over 50 Triglycerides up to 199 mg/dl under 100 DHEA males: no lower than 80 mcg/dl between 400-560 females: no lower than 35 mcg/dl between 350-430 You can research what the purpose of each one of these substances and health, or, if you've had these tests (as they suggest that everyone over 40 does), your Dr. should be able to explain.
