Guest guest
Hey everyone First off, i wanted to thank you all for helping me figure out herbs and conveying so much useful and interesting information. I joined the group a while back and was pretty clueless about herbal remedies and since then you've motivated me to learn so much more about it, so yeah... thanks I'm gonna be unsubscribing for a while cause this months gonna be a mess and then i leave for London early next Sept for the semester. I'll re-join when i get back, but for now i figure ill tell you all some of the gems ive picked up. First off, astragalus is a wonder herb. I find it to be very energizing and to be a good immune booster... basically just a nice feel-good supplement and also very safe. I've read warnings that say not to take it when you have a fever, but especially if you pick up viruses often or feel low on energy--- astragalus is amazing. Slippery Elm... for that stuffy lung feeling. Helps the nasty stuff come up and out. Tea Tree Oil- i cannot believe how many uses this stuff has. Everything from sinus congestion (drop on tissue, inhale) to cuts to *yeast infections* (roll top half of tampon in olive oil, add a few drops of tea tree to the tip) to acne teas-- never underestimate the power of herbal teas. invigorate mind, body and soul. always invest in good quality teas and inhale as you sip honey, cayenne, turmeric, garlic, etc--- my first experimentation was with food supplements on account of they seemed safest. it seems almost too easy, but they work wonders and are always available. changing your diet is so important when you're trying to be well. i was resistant to that idea for a bit, but even if youre not willing to make the complete change-- if youre coming down with a cold, dont eat dairy, processed foods and sugar. if you dont believe me, drink a glass of milk and see if you dont feel ten times worse a minute later. reiki works. especially if your physical health is draining you mentally/emotionally/spiritually as well. its all related... when you are sick to the point of matter of mind, i highly recommend going to a good reiki healer. make sure they're certified and be prepared for an amazing experience. as for ayurveda, it is extremely helpful but i think its a good idea to keep up on other types of healing as well. that goes for everything obviously, but ayurvedic mixtures have some pretty good western substitutes if you know what you're treating. Fenugreek (in ayurved it is usually called methi) is awesome for respiratory issues, such as bronchitis. ok well... hope some of that was helpful and i hope you all enjoy the rest of your summers and autumn. and winter this is a wonderful resource and doc, you're awesome for starting it and keeping up with it. thanks again Misha
