Guest guest
.. I just found this in my book called Heinerman's Encyclopedia of Fruits, Vegetables and Herbs. Elaine " A special dental preparation can be made from the calix or top part by which the eggplant is attached to its stem. The top parts are spread out on a cookie sheet and slowly roasted at 175 degrees F. for 24-30 hours or until they can be easily reduced to a powder by either grinding them up or crushing them with a wooden mallet or hammer. Next 1/4 cup of sea salt and 2 tbsp. of powdered kelp should be mixed together thoroughly and then evenly spread out on another clean cookie sheet, and also slowly roasted at the same temperature for about half the time. When sufficiently cooled, the sea salt and kelp should be mixed with the powdered eggplant calixes. Toothaches can be relieved by rubbing some of this mixture into the gums near the painful tooth for a couple of minutes. The purulent gum diseases, pyorrhea, which affilcts several million Americans can be successfully treated by lightly brushing the teeth and gums with some of this eggplant-salt-kelp mixture before retiring for the night. After brushing rinsethe mouth with cold water, and, then, with a moistened forefinger dipped into some of this mixture, rub some more of it on the outside of the gums. Leave it on for awhile before rinsing away "
