Guest guest
Meg, I'd do garlic, garlic and more garlic - raw, organic of course! You can take a clove and split it in half, dip it in organic olive oil and swallow it like a pill. Use it in salads, salad dressings or on toast. Put some organic olive oil in a blender, put in a clove or two of garlic, blend a minute or so, toast some whole grain bread (Ezekiel or home made sprouted bread is best), take it out of the toaster and spread the olive oil and garlic. This way the properties in the garlic are not heated to make them dead. Also buying and using bulk, loose Lecithin is very effective in lowering cholesterol. I met a woman in a health food store who told me that she was suppose to have the veins in her neck stripped of cholesterol but the machine at the doctor's office was in for repair and she was re-scheduled for the procedure in a month. During that time she heard about Lecithin and she started taking it and when she went back to the doctor the nurse retested her and there was no need for the procedure and the nurse told her that the Doctor would be mad that she didn't need the stripping done. BOTTOM LINE of course is BUILDING A HEALTHY BODY so that the body itself will produce the Lecithin needed so that arteries do not clog and the bad cholesterol is low. Bernard Jensen says " If the diet is deficient in vitamins, nerve fats, phosphorus, oxygen, sulphur and specific nerve salts, lecithin cannot be manufactured within the body." from the Chemistry of Man by Bernard Jen, Ph.D Hope this helps. Guest guest
One more thought on Lecithin. Lecithin, in its Greek form means egg yolk. Dr. Shillington is a big advocate of raw eggs in a morning Total Nutrition smoothie drink. Total 247 TG 187 HDL 63 LDL 147 His surrogate Insulin marker TG / HDL = 2.33 looks ok so I would hazard a guess that Insulin resistance is not a problem and he is probably getting too much dietary fat. TGs & LDL can either come from too much dietary fat or too many high GI carbs. Too many dietary carbs normally pushes up the surrogate insulin marker and as it is ok, the problem may lie in your hubbies fat intake.
