Guest guest
I was just wondering is anyone here suffers from acid reflux and how are you treating it. I have suffered for a couple of years now and am presently on Zantac, 150 mg. 2xday. since my doctor has told me I will be on this for a long time...I am just worried about taking it so long, and am looking for a more natural treatment, if one exist. Guest guest
Marge, Everyone I know that has an acid reflux problem is also Blood Type O. If you are of this blood type then if would help you to alter your diet by reading Eat Right For Your Type. This is one area where he seems to be right on. To neutralize the acid, chewable calcium or liquid calcium products will help, but no matter what your blood type Charcoal in water will be a tremendous blessing. We use it for all upset stomachs whether the flu or acid indigestion, etc. When my mother was struggling with this problem we looked into Zantac and all the others, both over the counter and prescription. Many of them will actually cause osteoporosis and other problems from the mineral imbalance they create in the body. So be careful with those products. Try hard to eat earlier in the evening. Fennel (1 capsule 3 times a day) and Turmeric (2 capsules 3 times a day) will help to rid your digestive tract (especially stomach) of bad bacteria. You may want to try this for several weeks. While doing this do not used dairy. If the problem goes away pretty much, then be careful not to add dairy. Unless you drink milk that you boil or products you make yourself like homemade ice cream or yogurt (from boiled milk). Most of the bad bacteria that people pick up comes from pasteurized dairy products that still have some bad bacteria in them. These bacteria do multiply while the product sits on the shelf at the store and though it is not spoiled yet, it can cause problems in your stomach. I personally have found this to be the case in our family. Raw milk from your own animals is okay too, if you drink it when it is very fresh. You don't want to use raw milk that has set for 3-4 days. We did all these things with my mother who is an O. We first did the turmeric and fennel. That helped a lot. Then she did the Eat Right for Your Type diet and does not used dairy at all any more. Now she rarely has problems as long as she stays away from those foods which are laid out in the book. Before this she was on Zantac and before that all kinds of over the counter stuff. She also has much less arthritis. I hope this helps, Annette - <matogo2 <herbal remedies > Wednesday, May 16, 2001 10:23 AM [herbal remedies] question about reflux... > I was just wondering is anyone here suffers from acid reflux and how > are you treating it. > I have suffered for a couple of years now and am presently on Zantac, > 150 mg. 2xday. since my doctor has told me I will be on this for a > long time...I am just worried about taking it so long, and am looking > for a more natural treatment, if one exist. > > Marge > > > Federal Law requires that we warn you of the following: > 1. Guest guest
I too would be worried about taking it for so long or even taking it at all. I'd recommend the Lemon/Egg Formula as in the files for a starter. Would need to know more about your condition, diet, weight, age, etc etc before taking it any further on the advice.
