I don't know why eggs have been classified as "dairy" as there is absolutely no relationship between a cow and a hen ;o)

Hmmmm......that's a very good point. ;o) Funny......it's like anything that comes from an animal is dairy. And yet, I don't know if I think of goats, etc., as being "dairy." Pretty much I don't even think about it, I guess.

There is way more mucous in milk, cheese, and other "dairy" products than there is in eggs, and when was the last time someone you know came down with salmonella???

This salmonella scare is absolutely ridiculous and is designed to scare everyone away from one of nature's most perfect foods. I personally feel that the poulty biz should sue the cattle biz for slander (LOL).

I realize there is way more mucous in milk and cheese, but I "thought" there was still mucous that came from eggs. As far as Salmonella, since you don't have a television, you haven't seen some of the scary exposes I have. I can't seem to remember any of the details anymore, but this one had to do with the handling of the eggs once they leave the farms and get in the hands of those that package them. There are filthy and hot conditions before they ever get packaged in their nice little containers.....it's not like they went swiftly from farm to container! It could take weeks, if I remember correctly. It made me never want to eat eggs anymore, forget the mucous stuff!!!!! If you ever saw one of these shows, Ian, I think you too would be a little wary of Salmonella. On the other hand, these were obviously conventional eggs; hopefully organic is handled much differently because it would be unlikely that the same people were packaging them. And wow, if the egg show was scary, it was nothing compared to what happens in the slaughter houses! WHOA!!!!!! Did I ever not want to eat meat after that.....yes, there is the hormone and antibiotic problem, which made me not to want to eat meat anymore, but add this stuff on top of it!!!!! Of course I think I had already stopped eating meat, so that was besides the point. :o)

Ole Doc Jensen was a great proponent of raw organic eggs.

Based on what you said, I had a raw egg in my drink this morning. I'm going to hope that organic eggs are not treated the same as the conventional ones, because it really should be better. I would like to be able to have raw eggs because I feel since I don't have meat or poultry anymore and very little fish or soy, I think I need more protein than what I am currently getting. I've been very fatigued.

Most of my over 300 patients eat raw organic eggs including very young children with tremendous benefit. Not only have none of my patients ever come down with salmonella, I have never personally heard of a case or ever had to treat one. Last but not least, if you ever did come down with it (probably 1 in 10,000 chance) it is one of the easiest things to get rid of and is no more serious than a cold. In the research I've done on Salmonella, most of the people who do get it, never knew they even had once its gone.

Well, again.....they are eating organic eggs. Organic is what I use in my lemon egg drink, so now I will just buy more eggs and eat the insides of them as well.

Thanks for your clarification on the egg story!

Valerie
