Guest guest
Well, yes, there are places where it won't grow. But it seems to grow almost everywhere, where there is enough water. If you go to the nearest city I bet you will find it growing around. One name given to Plantain by natives here was " White Man's Footsteps " because it seemed to follow them. Guest guest
yeah, I agree. But on the west coast of the US, it really does grow close to everywhere. DOn't know how common it is everywhere else. There are 2 varieties, plantago major--big broad leaves, and plantago lancelota, longer pointed leaves. Various opinions on which variety is better, or if it even matters (in terms of the leaves) don't know about the seeds... Guest guest
In Australia it grows everywhere from tropical north Queensland to the southern states. More prevalent as a road side weed in the southern states. Its a non native that has naturalized here. Here in Australia, the council may spray road side weeds and parkland with things like " round up " (Monsanto) that kill dicotyledons, which is worth bearing in mind if your thinking of ingesting them. On a related topic, my 94 year old grandma in Florida put me onto witchhazel and tea tree oil for fire ant bites. Works a treat. regards, Lea.
