Welcome to you.

 

Let's take a look at your " Premenstrual Syndrome " . There have been some recent

alterations in how this problem is approached in some arenas, you may have seen

those pharmaceutical commercials talking about Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder

(not to diminish the value of pharmacotherapeutics, but it doesn't seem likely

the

problem will go away with pills alone)

 

OK. So your chief complaint seems to be frustration, but I wondering if I don't

also see something underlying it that may have to do with grief, impatience

and/or

some feelings of failure or inadequacy... I have a very primary question for

you.

How do you see the advent of your period? Do you view it as a loss of a

potential

pregnancy, somehow, or sort of a " waste of time and energy " ?

 

If you see your period as proof positive that you can't or didn't get pregnant,

then of course every month you are going to grieve that, and every month you are

going to have anticipatory grief and anxiety regarding it. While your hormones

are doing what they are supposed to be doing, which is shifting along with your

menstrual cycle, your emotions are not able to keep up with them, because you've

entrained yourself to feel that tension and brace yourself against the pain

before

it comes again, and the hormone shift causes some dysphoria at the same time

(jangled nerves, irritability, myalgia, etc.)

 

If you see your period as a waste of time and an unnecessary hassle, then you're

also going to have anticipatory anxiety because you may feel that you are not as

focused or capable during that time, or that it affects your activities of daily

living or your personal relationships in an adverse way. You may not think you

have the time, but your friend is coming to visit you regardless <LOL> Fighting

your period is like swimming upstream, it's just going to wear you out.

 

Since your period is something you'll have to continue to deal with, at least

until your menopause, it would be good if you would make friends with it and

utilize that time productively. It is no joke to call your menses your " friend "

:-) It really can be, in some ways. It is a powerful time of renewal of

feminine

energy and cleansing for a long time during your life; in many societies a woman

is considered so powerful during this time that she is forbidden to do certain

activities, in case her uncontrolled magic affects things in unexpected ways!

The

real magic is in learning the skill of taming that sacral energy, which is

indeed

powerful, plumbing its emotional depths and its creative wellsprings that will

later become accessible to you all the time as an elder.

 

Here is something that you can try. Begin focusing on your period as a time for

your body to clear itself of the things it no longer needs to carry around; this

can include any issues you'd like to process, any emotions that have been

bottled

up, any hurdles you're ready to jump over or blocks you're ready to move past.

Give yourself the honor of time alone as much as you can during your period, and

use it to do something expressive or creative... learn pottery, take up

painting,

sew, journal, write, garden... just do something with your body and hands to

express yourself. Be with that, and make that a sacred time for you so that you

won't give up that time for things you imagine are more important. At that

time,

you are the most important thing, and when you think you have no time, that is

exactly when you need to be making time for yourself and renewal.

 

If you have a women's support group in your area, consider joining it... if

there

isn't one, consider creating one. The shared experience of women of all ages

and

stages is not only comforting but it can be like nutrition for your soul. Even

a

quilting circle or coffee klatsch will work... just be with women in a place

where

you can all let it all hang out, complain loudly, laugh, and cry if you need to.

Thanks and hugs to each of you who responded to my request for help with

PMS. Big hugs. You guys make me smile. Thought I'd reply to all of

you here at once.

 

Anat, yes I have some additional cravings for carbs during PMS, but that

sometimes depends on how well I keep to a good diet to begin with. I

haven't had a chance to read the information on soy that you posted.

The fact that they claim that soy shrinks the brain blows me away and

I'll be anxious to read further on that one. Asian people are so very

bright and eat lots of soy, so that really surprises me.

 

At 45, I do not really want to get pregnant, but you are right about the

vivid visualization. Ya know, I use visualization before getting up in

front of crowds or when I sing to make sure people get the message of my

song and not just hear the tune. I never thought of using the

visualization with fighting PMS. Why not.

 

I guess the visualization can go hand in hand with Michelle's message

about " allowing well-being or not " . Fascinating.

 

Connie, using the natural diuretics and trace minerals is one thing that

I will try next. I'll be in touch if I do not find it at our HFS. No

one has ever mentioned the fluid building up in the brain. Makes

perfect sense. Soy shrinks the brain and the water swells the brain --

and we wonder why we are so out of sorts during that time of the month!

I'll be checking out your website, also. Luv the name.

 

Debbie, the need to release the pain of the miscarriage is probably so

true. One thing I did not mention was that I get horrible migraines

about 3 days prior to my period. And the very first migraine I ever

received in my life was the day my period returned several months after

the miscarriage. Was it physical or mental? And the miscarriage may

have been caused by something I did not let go of prior to the

pregnancy. Is that correct?

 

Becky, I've used the EPO and pro-cream. And yes, both help. But my

progesterone level is entirely off the chart. Because I'm trying to get

in balance, I am concerned about continuing to use it. Yet, it really

makes a difference in how I feel.

 

AND CROW, **belly dancing**? Well if I was crabby before I read your

message, that sure brought me out of it with a belly laugh! Thanks,

sistah! Seriously, I've been wanting to get into yoga and maybe now is

the time to start.

 

Where can I find more information on the chakras? (I know I'll be

hearing a lot more about it from you folks, too). I'd also like to find

a good Reiki practitioner, but that may be a little difficult here in

Western PA.

Crow, I read your message regarding the belly dancing prior to reading

your message full of insight. I don't want you to think I took any of

this lightly -- just did not see it prior to the other message.

 

There is wonderful insight here and I thank you for taking the time to

share your wisdom and thoughts. I'm going to print the message and

spend some quiet time *really* going through it. On the surface, I

don't think I look at my period as something bad. That particular week

of the month is my greatest week and I can see how we are our strongest

at that time. It's the weeks working up to it that are killers. But, I

still may be able to relate everything you said to possible causes --

for instance I so fear PMS, I cause it.

 

Thanks so much. And I'll definitely look at the nrgbalance site and the

chakra information you suggested.

 

P.S. There must be something deeply significant about " Crow " . Can you

share it?

;-) As a matter of fact, our esteemed Anukki lives in that area and is an RM as

well as an award winning massage instructor and an overall fascinating and

statuesque womyn. I certainly hope she's reading her mail so that she can see

seriously I automatically assume everyone else does as well ;-) Hey, my first

I'd like to address your comment about miscarriage; I would never assume that a

miscarriage is related to an issue that you had not released; while that might

be

the case, there are myriad reasons for such a thing to occur, including natural

body wisdom. In fact, it is pretty remarkable, overall, that any of us was ever

born, considering the amazing chain of events that has to occur in order for

conception, implantation, gestation and delivery to happen.

 

If you continue to feel some residual ambiguous feelings about your miscarriage,

up to and including any guilt, you might profit from trying a meridian therapy

like EFT or TAT, as I have (I have also had a miscarriage). I have a picture of

Dear Crow:

I went to you last post and read what you said about the Crow. Thats very

interesting. We have a crow in our backyard with white flight feathers.

He's magnificent. We consider him good luck.

I'm anxious to take some quiet time and study all of this.

 

Crow, you mentioned the meridian therapy. May I mention one more item

that may be important in this whole picture. In 1979, I had an emergency

exploratory surgery that ultimately removed a ruptured ovarian cyst from

my right ovary. The scar is in my midsection, right through my naval

and is about 6 " long. I've been told by a chiropractor that this is a

very important meridian for energy, and to gently massage the scar

because the scar tissue is very deep and could cause a block of energy.

 

Please, you will not hurt my feelings when you feel we've talked about

this enough on the list. I know how some of these threads can just go

on and on and annoy others on the list. I sincerely hope that it helps

others out there, also. In the meantime, thanks a bunch.

This is what the list is for; and I am reminded of an old joke about a city

fellow

who observed a farmer taking care of his prize show hog... he would carefully

wash

him, prepare him special food, clean and refurbish his bed regularly, and groom

him. It seemed to be very time consuming to the city fellow, and he commented

on

it to the farmer, who responded,

" What's time to a hog? " ;-)

 

Any time something invasive happens to your system, from emotional blows to

surgery to physical trauma, your body, and your energy field, remembers it. If

you think about it, an incision does not just cut your physical body, it also

cuts

through all the layers of your field to get there. Some of that repairs itself

normally, as your body mends itself; occasionally, though, a leak or hernia

appears in the field over the area that requires repair. If that happens, there

can be continued problems or injuries to that area. Case in point... have you

ever stubbed your toe, and then noticed that your toe seems to have become as

big

as your head, because you keep banging it on things? The initial injury

temporarily displaced the field around your toe, making it more vulnerable.

It's

like cutting the whiskers off a cat.

 

In many forms of energy work, this is helped by a technique of smoothing the

field

that is called " unruffling " in Therapeutic Touch. You move the hands in the

field, usually around 3-5 inches around the body, from the midline out or from

proximal to distal on a limb, as if you were brushing the wrinkles out of a

comforter or stroking someone's hair. It helps the displaced area to reconfigure

itself back to form. Unruffling can also be used as a first aid maneuver with a

minor burn, I've used it many times for small injuries from the iron or candle

wax

and seldom blister. You will feel a " pain curve " as the area seems to initially

throb and tingle, and then it will fade. Unruffling can also be done for cramps

and headaches locally, or as a full body technique on someone else for

balancing.

 

With practice, you will probably develop enough sensitivity in your hands to

sense

differences and changes when you move your hands over someone else; it is much

more subtle when working on yourself, and most people who assess themselves rely

on intuition. There are a few very basic energy awareness exercises for you to

energy work to explore various methods of assessment and delivery of energy.

The energy field is layered, both outside and inside the body. Your scar, while

it might be affecting energy flow because it has not been approached to clear

the

area, does not have to go away for energy to flow properly; an advanced energy

worker can help you by realigning your physical layer with the fifth layer of

your

energy field, the etheric template. This is great work for someone who has had

a

body part removed, such as an amputee who is experiencing " phantom pain " . I've

also known of women who continued to have " cramps " after hysterectomies, which

doesn't sound all that strange when you think about the nerves and energy that

have been disturbed there, and compare it to phantom limb pain phenomena.

OK, I would love everyones favourite PMS remedies. I

take the Female Tonic, my cycle is finally regular,

and I still get awful PMS. Not bloating, but mostly

the irritability and depression type. I recently tried

Kava and that seemed to have some symptomatic ,

relaxing effect. I have tried Magnesium, EPO, Female

Tonic (which i continue to take as per instructions),

and flower essences. I suspect my liver is not

perfect, but I have done 2 liver, and bowel, cleanses

recently, and there are no obvious problems. The PMS

seems to be getting worse. I eat well mostly, take

spirulina, bee pollen, and other things at different

times, am mostly vegetarian. I am running out of

ideas! I realise PMS only exacerbates or brings up

issues that are already there, often, and my

relationship is pretty rocky lately, but it is such a

distinctive 'hormonal' feeling after I ovulate, that I

dont know how much is just 'hormones' (as my husband

keeps telling me, or himself!)

I would appreciate anyones feedback, and ways they may

have dealt with this themselves.

Does your female formula have the Blue and Black Cohosh in it??? Doc Schulze took it out of the original Doc Christopher formula and my patients had problems with it until I added it back in. As an additional aid, I'd also recommend the Lemon Egg formula which will raise your Calcium and Magnesium intake (naturally and organically). The final tip would be the Panther Piss Formula to balance your Sodium / Potassium ratio.

 

If you were to do a thorough cleansing with emphasis on the liver while doing the above, I think you'd get a handle on it.

 

Relationships are important as you indicated below and it is vital that you and your husband concentrate on the positive. A good relationship is only as good as it is constantly "Created".

 

You also say below that you "eat well mostly". That "mostly" sends up a red flag in my universe as it immediately brings up the question, "where are you cheating on your diet???" :o) Let me know. (Coffee? Sugar? White Flour? CHOCOLATE?? ;o)

Thanks for replaying Ian, regarding the PMS - i am not

including blue and black cohosh- i dont think they are

mentioned in the files- would you please tell me the

whole formula, or put it in the files? Thanks.

My diet is good for a while, then I get slack and my

(pathetic) excuse is my kids and husband simply dont

like 'healthy' food, and i compromise, since I do most

of the cooking. It hurts to have them hate my cooking,

even when I think its yummy, but in the end I

undermine myself with it. I should just let them hate

my cooking and eat well myself, and they can think I

am wierd and get over it! I eat too much pasta,

probably too much cheese, and although i dont eat much

sugar and am known for being fanatical about it, I do

consume more than I would like to. Not much chocolate

but got into it at Easter and am now mildly addicted,

will have to kick that one. I havnt drunk coffee or

tea for years- I do drink Dandelion every day though.

I have been eating a big salad every day as Dr Shulze/

Christopher recommend.

I will go for your suggestions, the Lemon Egg and

Panther Piss, and I feel like I have been doing so

many cleanses the last few months, but I will keep

going and work on the liver some more.

OK Peela, I'll check the files out tonight and ensure that the B & B get into the formula. Penny was the first to turn me on to it and when I checked the original Doc Christopher formula, there they were.

 

My wife Valorie and I were much the same as you and "once in a while" would cheat on the coffee, chocolate and cigarettes (this last one is my favorite vice). The funny thing is that before you'd know it, we'd be drinking 2 to 4 cups a day and I'd be up to half a pack a day again. We just had to get tough with ourselves and say "Never Again" and just do it.

 

It's real tough when your loved ones don't get on the same band wagon so I know what you're going through.

My wife Valorie and I were much the same as you and " once in a while " would

cheat on the coffee, chocolate and cigarettes (this last one is my favorite

vice). The funny thing is that before you'd know it, we'd be drinking 2 to

4 cups a day and I'd be up to half a pack a day again. We just had to get

tough with ourselves and say " Never Again " and just do it.

Maca can be very effective for PMS. You'd have to find a dosage that works for

you. Due to strict policies of

this list, I can't mention a source of pretty extensive information about this

herb. I will email you privately

about this.

According to several Native American medicine people i've known over the

years, all cyclic difficulties tend to lessen or even disappear when a good

organic diet is followed. This phenomenon is of course highly variable among

individuals, depending on how long they've been on a bad diet, whether or not

there are other environmental factors, and also spiritual factors.

HI Katrina,

 

I personally had great relief from PMS by taking vitamin F. I took it one

capsule a day to start off with all month, and my husband couldn't believe

my period had started as he'd not noticed any symptoms the week before :-)

After that I took it just the week before the period was due.

I've personally had a lot of help from evening

primrose oil in capsules,multi-vitamin combo and

reduced amount of sugar in my diet(tends to make me a

bit irritable).
