Lice Treatment

2 ounces  vegetableoil

20 drops  tea treeessential oil

10 drops  rosemaryessential oil

10 drops  lavenderessential oil

10 drops  lemonessential oil

Combine ingredients. Apply to dry hair and cover with aplastic bag or

shower cap. Wrap the head in a towel. Leave on for 1 hour. Then put

shampoo on dry hair to help cut the oil. Work the shampoointo hair,

rinse, shampoo again and rinse.

Note: This formula is very potent, so use it with care. Do askin test

first. Apply a drop of the oil to the inside of the elbowand leav it

alone

for several hours. If there is no sign of irritation, goahead and use

it.

Keep the treatment away from the eyes and shampoo it off atthe first

sign

of irritation, especially with children.

You may need to repeat treament after a week to eliminatenewly hatched

lice. Wash clothes, bed linens and anything else that comesin contact

with

the person's head. Vacuum the backs of chairs and couches.

ThePackard Children's Health Services Pediatric Hotline at Stanford is hailing another popular treatment. It uses regular shampoo and three ingredients that can be found at most health-food stores:

Shampoo (use an inexpensive brand -- these seem to mix more easily with the oils). 3 tbsp olive oil. 1 tsp tea tree oil. 1 tsp rosemary or eucalyptus oil. Add oils to a small amount of shampoo and mix well. Work into hair and leave on for ahalf-hour with a tight-fitting shower cap. This mixture has a strong smell. The fumes may burn the eyes, so don't lean forward. Wash hair two or three times toget the oil out. Repeat the procedure if necessary.

and if that doesn't work just cover her hair in patroleum jelly, wrap her hair in plastic and sleep w/ it over night. all the lice will sufficate. It's really hard to get out, but it really does the trick when nothing else seems to work. you have to wash your hair over and over again and then it eventually comes out. it's a real pain though, so try everything else first

Look for herbal shampoos with citrus (d-limonene) and tea tree oil

(melaleuca) in them. If you can't find then you might be able to

find orange oil or d-limonene in an organic gardening center. It is

very strong usually mixed 1-2 oz per gallon of water in the garden so

you would probably only need to add 1 or 2 drops to some shampoo to make

your own. Orange Oil kills most insects on contact but is a powerful solvent

(used in industrial cleaning) so must be diluted down before using - also

good for fleas and ticks. Works good on dogs (but not cats as some are

alergic to it) for fleas.
