Guest guest
I cannot verify this because I don't live in North Carolina, nor do I watch tv or read newspapers, so just take this as a reminder. I was told last night by someone I trust that a woman in NC was recently sentenced to 10 years (suspended) sentence or $10,000 fine for "prescribing" herbs to a woman. Here's the story: This herbalist owned an herb store. Another woman came in suffering the effects of chemo and wanted herbs to help offset these effects. The herbalist told her what to take to help and sold her the herbs. The woman was healed of cancer. The husband was outraged and sued this herbalist for practicing medicine without a license. The court ruled in his favor and you read the outcome above. ALWAYS use the words: I suggest; I recommend; or words that convey the message that you are a LAY person. NEVER say words like "prescribe," and other, similar medical jargon. IF this woman didn't use any of these "red flag" words and merely said, "You should take this because it will help," then I am most disturbed by the ruling of the court. And the most you can do is live inside that hope. Guest guest
I'd like to see the court records and a verification on this before I'd get bent outa shape on it. With the recent law passage in Florida, the following is possible there and I'd be most interested in seeing a test case but until there is one we'll just have to wait. Let me know if you can substantiate it Gogi with some kind of research. For now my viewpoint is that it is just hearsay. Guest guest
Yes, Ian. I try to be careful and verify things. Since I hadn't with that info, I said so up front. I will try to find out more. If I find something, I'll post an update. If it IS true, I don't like what is happening one bit. Guest guest
Thank you, Kristine, for clarifying this legal terminology. I said the word "sued" because I couldn't think of the legal word for "filed a complaint." I am still tracking down information on this story.<--for lack of a better word to call it at this time.
