Guest guest
I'm getting ready to make a salve with tallow, and my aunt asked me what the shelf life of tallow made salve is. I told her there will be vit E in it for preserving, but I had no clue as to actual shelf life, in an uncooled area. You know it gets hot down here in Florida, and some of us don't always have air. Would like to settle this in my mind, if anyone has an answer. love, Elaine
Guest guest
Since salves do melt and tallow can go rancid (even with E), I'd refrigerate it. Hugs, Janet
Guest guest
I know I'm prejudiced here, but I never use anything but organic bee's wax in my salve formulae. Bee's wax has natural antibiotic properties which are very beneficial to all wounds.
