Guest guest
Does not look like any oak gall I've ever seen. Usually they are a lot smaller and look like a lump between the grooves of the bark. When you knock 'em off with a hammer, the inside looks kinda pointy. Guest guest
Dena, did you get the Oak Galls I sent you???? Many trees don't have them and then the ones that do you can overlook if you don't know exactly what to look for. Once you have found one and seen what it looks like you will never have a problem spotting them. They hide in the bark crevices. Some are as small as marbles and others the size of golf balls. They are definitely round in shape and when you give them a good hit with a hammer they come off and on the back you see little points where the gall attached itself to the tree and there is no bark around these points. There is bark on the gall itself. Keep looking. You'll be excited when you find one. Try different types of oak trees. Guest guest
The first time I heard about Oak galls I heard they grow on branches but I've never seen one there only on the trunks. Guess I'll have to sharpen my eyes. It stands to reason they could grow there also. Valorie - elaine davis herbal remedies Tuesday, April 10, 2001 6:40 PM Re: [herbal remedies] Oak Gall?
