Well, since you all are talking about your large number of pets at

home maybe you can help me. Our beloved kitty cat has a very " special

tummy " . She has only been able to eat foods with no dyes and, of

course, those more expensive. Well, she is a fat-butter ball and so,

we got the same brand food in low-fat. Well, her b.m.'s became

alittle softer and stuck to her. I gave her a bath on Monday evening.

Last night we noticed her little rear-end is sore. I am guessing

that it's sore from the washing. We've also given up on the low fat

food, as it isn't doing well with her tummy as her b.m.'s continue to

be too soft for her. Since cats are very sensitive to things I've

been looking for a safe salve for her bottom. Can't seem to find one,

as we all know, what you put on a cat gets ingested. I hate to take

her to the vet, but her little bottom really is red and sore. I

looked in my Juliette deBairacli Levy book, " Cats Naturally " , but

there was no help there. Any suggestions, animal lovers? Peace, Janet E.

Janet,

Several of us were talking about Prickly Pear the other day. Did you catch those? Good for ant bites, wounds, rashes etc. It is certainly natural as is aloe right out of a plant. I think I'd try these if it were my kitty.

Hi Janet,

Sorry, don't know anything about salves but I have a dog with stomach

problems too. His stomach growls, he won't eat for days, and he stays thin.

For the past month I've been giving him equal parts Nettle, Dandelion, and

Ground Ivy tincture. He's MUCH better now! He eats, his stomach doesn't

growl, he's gaining weight and the patches of lost hair from allergic

dermatitis have grown back. Best of all, his nose stays cold and I can tell

he finally FEELS GOOD!

Dena, who thinks she wins the prize for most animals........4 dogs, 2 horses,

13 cows, 5 goats, 16 pigs, 12 ducks, 20something chickens, 17 quail, 2

guineas, and 1 rabbit ;)

Dena,

Great succes on your dog!!! He's lucky to have you as his mom.

Pretty impressive. You've got me beat hand down but Ruth has 300 goats so if they count, she wins.

Maybe we should have two different classes: 1 for herds where people have them as a living and 1 for # of pets

What do you think?

Thank you Valorie, I consider it my duty to take the best care I can of all

my critters. It breaks my heart when one of them is suffering.

Good idea about pets vs herds, not sure which catagory I fit in. LOL.

Herds if it's based on intention.

Pets if it's based on actuality ;-)

The actual way to distinguish between the two is whether or not it has a name.

If it has a name, it's a pet. If it doesn't, it isn't ;o)

All our chickens (all three) have names and are therefore pets. The eggs don't and therefore get eaten (laugh).

Dena,

You are more than welcome! Not only did you care you succeeded in figuring out something that really worked.

I'd say intention definitely counts as that makes the future. Dreams do come true!
