Guest guest
Hello, I am new to the list so, after lurking for a bit, i thought that i would introduce myself a bit...WARNING!!! I tend to chatter! My name is Aradiann, Ray for short. I am a 35 year old mom of two adolescent boys, (YUCK!), and one adolescent hubby, (haha!). Seriously, I am married to my soulmate. We have been together 20 years of which 15 have been married. My boys are 14 and 11 1/2. I recently, (this last year) after much deliberation, decided to homeschool them because i am tired of the public school system and all it doesn't have to offer. I am VERY in to plants, (duh!), and they adopt me from all reaches of my little corner of the world. I am forever scouring the dumpsters behind the garden stores to rescue unwanted plants. I have a beautiful herb garden, rose garden and i am currently enchanted with about 20plus African violet varieties. I like to make my own herbal remedies, though i am still very much a beginner and eager to learn. I play the flute, read and write poetry and other literary " stuff " , collect stamps, and i run a home daycare. I have an " animal family " which includes, at least at THIS moment in time, LOL!: 1. 1 miniature potbelly piggie daughter, Shelby (2 on June 29) 2. 1 Keeshond doggie daughter, LunarBear**** ****NOTE: Our sweet Bear passed away on November 18. 3. 2 kitty daughters, MoonBeam (3yrs.) and Danu (Dani for short, 4 months) 4. 1 Daddy rat son, Silmo(mine) 5. 3 daughter rats, Flareon, Eevie and Pikachu (my oldest son's) 6. 1 son rat, Lil Dude, (my youngest son's) 7. 1 red cornsnake son, Harley, (my youngest son's) 8. Many beautiful squirrels and birdie children that live in my yard....WHEW!!! Well, i think that is probably more than enough to start with! I will gladly answer any questions you may have about me and my " eccentric " family.... Thank you for allowing me to join this " family " ... I know i will enjoy it here. Guest guest
Hi Ray, My youngest child who is now 13 was a grade 2 drop out and chose to homeschool as well. This year for high school she went back to regular school and is now once again talking about quitting. She is on the honor role and very social so certainly the stuff you hear of the negatives about it is not true! All the power to you in teaching them yourself! I was raised with herbs and organic so naturally have come by having my own herb farm and after much transition time now supports us.. I cannot imagine a life without the plants around me! Thanks for sharing your family, sorry for your loss. We lost 3 of our dogs last month to old age, like once one went the others could not handle the loss. Was a very major blow we have yet to recover from, as although they were big dogs they all stayed in the house with us and were very much a large part of our health and happiness. take care, Carol Vickery/Tao Herb FarmPhone/Fax 250 357-2550Box 327 Salmo, B.C. Guest guest
Wow Ray!! I'm impressed. I thought I had a lot of animals: 2 dogs, 3 cats, 1 rooster, 3 chickens, 1 rabbit and soon to be 4 horses. Guest guest
As of now I have 5 dogs...Xena, Isis, Ariel, Electra and Dillanger. We are looking for a new home for Dillanger. He came out a " dud " We breed boxers and he didn't get the qualities of a boxer. Is marked like a rottie and doesn't have the boxer teeth. My female was kept in the house so I know nothing else got to her. Isis is due for pups May 10th. We also have 4 kittens and a mama cat. The kittens are going to new homes in the next week or so though...as soon as they start eating good. Don't worry about the chatter as I don't think anyone on the list (except for a few lurkers) is a slouch when it comes to flappin' their gums ;o) I look forward to your posts and any contributions you may have in the area of Natural Animal health (always been a bit of weak point on this list). Guest guest
Kristi, OK. Lets do a "pet" category and a "regular farm" category. Ruth wins the DAIRY FARM CATEGORY so far. I have a ranch (farm) with 9 animals and 3 or 4 horses coming but since all of them have names they are "pets" so I guess I'd be in the "pet" category.. If I remember correctly you beat me with numbers of animals but are you a "pet" or a "farm" category? Lets do a " pet " category and a " regular farm " category. Ruth wins the DAIRY FARM CATEGORY so far. I have a ranch (farm) with 9 animals and 3 or 4 horses coming but since all of them have names they are " pets " so I guess I'd be in the " pet " category.. If I remember correctly you beat me with numbers of animals but are you a " pet " or a " farm " category?
