Gather the flowers when newly opened after the dew has gone. To use as medicine I take off the petals from the center and dry in dark place. Uses: The leaves are added to salads, and garnishes of flowers color rice and fish dishes. Research shows the ray florets shows depilatory effects, potentially useful in face creams. Calendula is antiseptic and anti-fungal and contains hormone and Vitamin A percursors. Internally it treats stomach pain and inflamed lymph modes and stimulates the liver, aiding alcoholics. The macerated oil treats skin problems. Petals make a soothing eye-wash and produce a yellow dye. Recipe Files: Facial Steam

3 cups distilled water 1 teaspoon dried calendula 1 teaspoon chamomile 1 teaspoon raspberry leaves 1 teaspoon peppermint 1 teaspoon strawberry leaves This facial steam is good for all skin types. Can use 2 times a week and follow with a moisterizer. Add all of the herbs together and pour the boiling water over top. Steam your face keeping a towel over head and shoulders to keep the steam in. This mixture can also be used as a hair rinse for brown and blond/red hair. Strain herbs before using as a hair rinse. Body PowderUse any of these as your base or combination of them to your liking. corn flour, corn starch, rice flour, and French clay. add powdered calendula flowers and or chamomile flowers. Add equal parts of the above and use as body powder. Essential oils can be added to this base mix for variety and scent.
