Guest guest
Hi Gabriela, Well, I'm not good at calculating at all, and especially I don't know how to figure it out for the shells. Even if we know, it's hard to know what we are actually supposed to have compared to what we actually do have; surely we don't want to stick with the suggested amounts. If you ARE able to calculate it, Gabriela (after your rest), or if anybody can, please let us know what you have figured out! Ian, do you know? Your English is working out just fine, and I am really appreciating your input on this subject. I wrote to the two links you sent asking about the mineral content in eggshells. If I get an answer, I will certainly let you know. I love the charts for the seeds and nuts and I've printed some of them out. Of course, the thing is I don't know how this converts into what we are SUPPOSED to have, but it sure gives a great idea of what has the most of what in it! Thanks for sharing these great links, Gabriela. I've bookmarked them and I'll spend some more time on the indexes in the future. I read about the egg shell on one of these links: " SHELL....The shell is largely composed of calcium carbonate (about 94%) with small amounts of magnesium carbonate, calcium phosphate and other organic matter including protein. Shell strength is greatly influenced by the minerals and vitamins in the hen's diet, particularly calcium, phosphorus, manganese and Vitamin D. If the diet is deficient in calcium, for instance, the hen will produce a thin or soft-shelled egg or possibly an egg with no shell at all....... " Thought that was kind of interesting.
