Guest guest
I have heard something about farm animals being confiscated here in the US over some pretext of a disease, and would like further information. I think there is something extremely unjust going on the victims being independent farmers/livestock owners. I knew a man in my old home town who ended up being a "Pool Man" after losing some milking cows. Farmers do not easily recover from lost livestock. I think we need to pay attention to this. I think in US History I learned something a wise statesman said "As the Farmers go, so goes the Nation." Kristine I am on a farm list that had a link I used to learn more about Foot and Mouth disease. Apparently it is not really life threatening, and the animals recover in 2-3 weeks. There is loss of meat and milk production, but only of animals infected, not those only possibly exposed. I posted a comment I would like to share, as well as the response I got. Re: Foot and Mouth Disease - > Isn't it possible that the virus is actually transmitted in vaccines and> that the best policy is to allow the animals infected to recover and then> pass on their immunity to their off-spring so that the disease is stopped> naturally?>> Just Pondering,> Kristine Dr. Gerhard Buchwald MD in his book Impfen - Das Geschäft mit der Angst(Vaccination - A Business Based on Fear) reports that there were many moreoutbreaks of foot-and-mouth disease in European countries where cattle wasvaccinated against the disease than in the European countries which didn'tvaccinate. It was only when the use of the vaccine was prohibited in theEuropean Union that there were no further outbreaks (similar to smallpoxwhich only disappeared once mass vaccination programmes were replaced bystrict quarantine and disinfection measures). The vaccine against theswinepest was prohibited in the European Union for similar reasons.
Guest guest
Kristine, I think you are absolutely correct. I live in Ames, Iowa where the confiscated sheep were taken to be examined. It is not known that the sheep are sick, the owners say they are not, the USDA says they " might " be and we won't know for sure for months. My co-workers' mother is one of the scientists that will be investigating this so I hope to keep informed through him. In the end it is the family farmer who will be hurt by this hysteria. Not the factory farm. Just as the oil crises got rid of the small producer, this crises will be one of the final nails in the coffin of family farming. Another good reason to buy organic meat is to support the small producer! Guest guest
Dear Cindy, I wish there were something I could do to help stop the insanity of destroying independence in America and across the world. When I was in Great Britain it seemed like a third world country because there were so many who were living from week to week on Government handouts. The goat farmers I bought my raw goats milk from seemed only a step ahead of that, and from what I have learned, that margin of independence is being taken away with all the animals being killed just because they may have been exposed to these " scare tactic " diseases. I have heard of these types of massive destruction of farm animals in Asia as well supposedly to " stop the spread " of something or other. It makes me wonder if these other cases were also just excuses to destroy the food and livestock people were depending upon. It takes a very long time if it ever is acomplished, to recover from such losses. I lost my dog and goat, just one of each and the emotional pain is so great, I really feel for those losing ever so much more.
