Ian: Lemon Egg Disaster

I tried to overcome my fear of making the Lemon Egg. I

finally did and went in for my last " aerating " on

Saturday. One of the eggs broke. Ick. I was NOT happy,

especially since it takes a very long time to juice 32

oz. of lemon.

 

Last night I decided to do it again but did only half,

" in case. " Lucky thing too. I thought it might be

safer to take the eggs out this time as I went along.

First egg I touched broke. So much for this batch.

 

I really want to make this calcium drink, but, Ian,

can you give me some tips??? Is it necessary to aerate

it....isn't the calcium leeching anyway? I'm trying to

figure out a way to do this without the egg's coming

in touch with the glass. I've been doing this in glass

jars....perhaps people do this in something else????

The other thing is I'm using organic eggs that are

brown. The brown comes off in the lemon. I " guess "

this is a normal thing since calcium would be in the brown???

Arrrrrrrgh! OK, sounds as if you "aerated" too hard :o) When you take out of the fridge all you need to do is a gentle swirl with the liquid and then put it back. Also, it can't be in for more than 48 hours max.

 

I get 6 large brown eggs into one of my one quart mason jars and cover with fresh squeezed lemon juice about an inch over the top of the eggs.

 

Yes, I know it looks a little strange and tastes even weirder (a bit like lemon chalk)(I love it, but may be I'm a little weird too), but there's no better source of organic calcium, magnesium and silicon. It's absolutely the best.

 

Best to take out the membranes with a wooden spoon or a dull metal one - No forks allowed ;o)

 

Any way hon, just keep on trying until you get it right and don't give up. I wish I had a dollar for every formula I've ever ruined. What was it Thomas Edison said about being the biggest failure there ever was? = He had a hundred failures for every success, but look at those successes. (laugh)

So I don't move the eggs then, is that right? ONLY the

liquid....sort of like just pretty much on top? Where

I don't HAVE to touch those eggs?

That's what I used. But the glass makes it very scary.

And oh gee, an inch over the top of the eggs would

mean MORE than 32 oz. of lemon for my six eggs (maybe

they are too large).

I can't tell you how much I'm (not) looking forward to

tasting this after all the compliments it's been

getting. LOL!

Gee, that's encouraging. HA!!!! Yesterday I got a

brand new supply of organic lemons and organic eggs.

I'm doing the three with the 16 oz. again. This will

be my third try.

Just swirl it around gently without touching the eggs. The only time you use a wooden or very dull stainless steel spoon is when removing them after the 48 hour period.

Size shouldn't matter as long as whatever jar you're using is filled about 3/4 of the way with eggs and the lemon juice is about an inch over the top of the eggs.>I wish I had a dollar for every formula I've> ever ruined.
